"Atlas," by Battles. The single's not due out for a month, the album for 5 or 6 weeks, and I already can't wait to get my hands on both.

3. Good stuff, thanks.
I had a left-handed friend who used to get righteously pissed off at Kurt Cobain for smashing all those lefty Fender Mustangs when he was looking for one to play on and couldn't find one to save his life.

42. Candyman - Christina Aguilera
Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 09:54 PM by pokerfan
2006’s Back to Basics earned Christina a lot of credibility, both from me and other critics. Her attempt at recreating the early sounds of the 20th Century, while also sounding completely fresh, was a major success. The album’s first single, “Ain’t No Other Man,” rushed into the top 10 and stayed there for weeks. The follow-up single, “Hurt,” was a hit as well. Just recently, Christina Aguilera has released one of the best, most addicting singles ever to hit the planet, “Candyman.”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkBWQzuu6XA

The video was filmed on January 28, 2007. The video is a 1940s war theme; Aguilera rented out an airport. It was directed by Matthew Rolston and co-directed by Christina Aguilera. On February 22, 2007 MTV gave a World Premiere of "Candyman" live on TRL and later on MTV's Making The Video. In the video, Aguilera appears dancing and singing in three different hair colors: redhead, blonde and brunette, which appears to be a tribute to the Andrews Sisters. Judy Garland (her swing dance sequence in Strike Up the Band is paralleled), and 1940's pin-up queens Betty Grable and Rita Hayworth are also given their fair share of respect. The video reached #1 on the TRL countdown on its third and sixth day.

132. A forgotten now but gorgeous song
"Lost in the Stars" by Kurt Weill (author of Mack the Knife) from "Lost In the Stars" based on a novel of apartheid "Cry the Beloved Country", written in 1949. Kurt Weill's last completed musical.

Performed by Elvis Costello and the Brodsky String Quartet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXBots5bdzQ

Kurt Weill was one of the underappreciated musical geniuses of the 20th century (1900-1950).
