8. Excellent choice in song!
Though I disagree with the album a little. Still, Desire is probably the last of the truly great albums before the long slump of the late-70s and 1980s.

4. Funny you should say that!
;)

I got the Bob Dylan Bootleg Series - Volumes 1 - 3 (rare & unreleased 1961 - 1991)
for Christmas and I'm still going through and listening to all the songs.

I still like 'Lay lady Lay" and "Hurricane' but one of my new favorites is "When the Night Comes Falling From the Sky"

5. There's no way I can answer that. My fave Dylan tune changes practically daily...
right now, I'm into the version of "It's Alright Ma" off Bootleg Series Vol. 6: 1964 Philharmonic Hall. It is absolutely harrowing.

The version of "Like a Rolling Stone" off Bootleg Series Vol. 4: 1966 Royal Albert Hall is a perennial favorite.

As far as studio albums, I usually say my favorite is "Blood on the Tracks," but this also changes every now and again.

Sorry I can't be more definitive for ya. Dylan is, in my estimation, the greatest songwriter in history, so it's an almost impossible question for me to answer.

12. Exactly!
And even with the albums, it's kinda like that. I mean, I can't sit there and say Blood on the Tracks is my favorite when I'm right in the middle of listening to Blonde on Blonde.

That said, I would say that the guy hit a huge creative slump between 1977-1993 or so. Also, Love and Theft is his best album since Blood on the Tracks, in my very humble opinion. The other two albums of what I call the Dylan Renaissance period — Time Out of Mind and Modern Times (a case could be made that World Gone Wrong could be in this era too, but of course, none of that album is original material) — are both great albums, certainly his best in more than a decade, but Love and Theft is the first, and only, album since Blood that I would call a masterpiece.

OK, I'm done now. Forgive me for geeking out. :hi:

7. every day is a Dylan day!
I like the new album, a lot, but I tend to favor the older stuff.

I love Blood on the Tracks, particularly.

Some fave tunes overall - I Want You, Tangled Up in Blue and Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat.

11. I think that the Second Coming of Bob is pretty good
Love and Theft, and Modern Times are great. They are not the same as his early work, but they are just as good if not better in some instances. I love his dark, haunting love ballads.

19. From 1963
a song called "John Brown" or some places "John Browns' body". Listen to it today and you'd swear it was written about Iraq. Very powerful.

21. Last night, I listened to BIABH.
"Mr. Tambourine Man", "Gates of Eden", "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" and "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue"..... back to back to back to back, make for an awfully impressive listen.

I heard that album 100 times, but it never fails to wow me.

22. All of them
My favorite album hands down is the soundtrack to Pat Garrett. I used to be absolutely in love with Blood on the Tracks but since I'm over that relationship it just doesn't have the same sound as before, though Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts is slipping into my head right now, damn, I'll have to play it now.
Lily called another bet and drew up the jack of hearts.

28. The last one I listened to.
In this case, "Ain't Talkin'". :hi:

I love almost every Dylan song.

PS, visit the Dylan forum and check out the videos posted there. Especially, for those who love his early acoustic stuff, the ones from the 1964 Canadian TV show. Amazing stuff.

31. Master of War
Can't beat it; they really don't write songs like this anymore. It is addressed to the war machine: politicians, the Army brass, the weapons manufacturers. The last verse is:

And I hope that you die,
And your death will come soon.
I'll follow your casket
On a grey afternoon.
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your death bed.
And I'll stand over your grave till I'm sure that you're dead.

Not pulling any punches. Of course, this was written early in the Viet Nam era. I kept waiting for Dylan to speak up during the ramp up to Iraq, but he's lost his political voice.
