3. Where is R. Crumb when we need him?
Remember Despair and Whiteman Comix?

BTW, has anyone heard from Gilbert Sheldon lately? I miss Wonder Wart Hog and the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers (I wanted to cuddle up with Fat Freddy)

10. Hey, another Cheap Suit Serenaders fan!
That guy playing the cello is Terry Zwigoff, Director of "Bad Santa" starring Billy Bob Thornton. Terry Zwigoff also made that weird film "Crumb" starring, well, Robert Crumb.

Keep on Truckin'

28. I heard of it but didn't see it
I like the little plug of the album, kinda like a Hitchcock cameo. Another film by Terry that merits a look is 'Louie Bluie' a documentary of a relatively unknown black renaissance man, Howard (you ain't Louie, you're Louie Bluie) Armstrong (PBS showed it a couple of years ago). Interesting blues/jazz man and artist. Rumor has it that Terry Zwigoff bought Howard's journal/sketchbook titled 'The ABC's of Pornography'. Now that Howard has died, I hope it gets published.

16. baby, I deserve to be kissed....
I like that song...
I also like the Robert Armstrong - Al Dodge song "Get a Load of This"

"Bring a load-a, RC Cola, TV dinner, plate-a twinkies, takes a pink burrito, for to keep me clean"

(Armstrong created Mickey Rat and coined the term couch potato)

11. Might as well have the song with it.

Keep on truckin’, baby
I got to keep on truckin’
Got to get to your good lovin’
Huh...huh...huh...huh...huh...

Shame
A double shame on me, yeah
Love
Love, I let it control me, yeah

From just one kiss I am inspired
To lovers in time there’s a fire

And I’ll keep on truckin’, baby
I got to keep on truckin’
I got to get to your good lovin’
Huh...huh...huh...huh...huh...

Baby, its bad
It’s so hard to bear
Yes, babe
You’re hard to bear

I’ve got a fever rising with desire
It’s my love jones and I feel like I’m on fire

And I’ll keep on keep on truckin’, baby
I got to keep on truckin’
Got to get to your good lovin’
Huh...huh...huh...huh...huh...

Feelin’ good
No, you can’t stop the feelin’
No, you can’t stop the feelin’
No, not now

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Keep on truckin’ on
Keep on truckin’ on
Keep on truckin’

Keep on truckin’ on
Keep on truckin’

Yes, I’ve got a fever rising with desire
It’s my love jones and I feel like I’m on fire

And I’ll keep on keep on truckin’, baby

I’m the red ball express of lovin’
Diesel-powered straight to you, I’m truckin’
In old Temptation’s rain, I’m duckin’
For your love through sleet and snow, I’m truckin’, ooh

I’m the red ball express of lovin’
Diesel-powered straight to you, I’m truckin’
In old Temptation’s rain, I’m duckin’
For your love through sleet and snow, I’m truckin’

Ain’t nothin’ holdin’ me back nothin’
I’ll keep right on, right on truckin’
Ain’t nothin’ holdin’ me back nothin’
I’ll keep right on, right on truckin’

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, truckin’
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, truckin’

Eddie Kendricks -Keep On Truckin'

13. Crumb is good, but not one of my faves....
Wonder Warthog (in my brother's custom car magazines) introduced me to Gilbert Shelton who achieved fame with Those Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers.

For pure psychedelia, Rick Griffin could not be beat. Robert Williams still flourishes as editor of "Juxtapoz" magazine, carrying the kustom-kar, tiki-bar, velvet elvis aesthetic into the new millenium.

& S. Clay Wilson had a real edge to him.

21. S. Clay Wilson: Captain Pissgums & His Pervert Pirates!
I mentioned him in my earlier post. However, I didn't link any images!

Let this younger generation keep on thinking the hippie days were all peace, love & flowers. Don't want to shock the young whippersnappers.

27. Good Ol' Eggs
Hey, that's MY site!

I'm currently in a multi-year project to scan every page of every comix in my collection. Been at it three years now, and I'm about half-way through the "I's".

If any of you old hippies and hippie wanna-be's want to read this lil' gem, I could create a *temporary* location that you could access.

So, is there a consensus?

29. Started college in '69; loved R. Crumb
Boingy Baxter is another name that comes to mind just off the top. Allow me to wipe away a tear as I wax nostalgic. Days of commitment to social justice and fighting the war. Now? George W. Bush???? I can't believe it has come to this. Sigh.
