Cadaver photos are gross!!

on edit: I have to evaluate which of this set of two photos are better. None are better! They are cut-up dead people! I am honestly grateful that people donate their bodies to science for this purpose, and I have to get over myself, but ... ugh!

1. I guess they would be.
:pals:
Hope you were able to figure it out without resorting to Pepto Bismol.

7. Thank you!
At least I'm not the only one: even my authors (doctors!) say something about the nature of cadaver photos...

12. Thank you for your support
I keep telling myself that it's all for a greater good: educating doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. That helps.

Its got to be a stomach turner, but hang in there.

8. You can't get any more academic than this
I am the editor for college anatomy and physiology textbooks. I am sure I'll become dulled to the impact, someday...

14. Yep, been doing this for years
I used to do history books as a production editor, then moved to a different place and now I'm a project editor. Yes, I abandoned production for editorial. I go to Bookbuilders meetings and they hiss at me :-)

11. Dude! These particular images were of a man and a woman
sawn in half to display the reproductive organ system. If finding that revolting makes me a sissy, then I'll wear that sign! :-)

9. I personally think that doing dissections helps grow compassion
You can't get more real about the human condition than disassembling a human body. Oh gosh, but that does NOT apply to serial killers!!

16. When I was a cub reporter...
It was another life, a long, long time ago.
Anyway...
I was sent to one of our news photographers cubbyhole to retrieve a photo that was going to run the next day.

While I was going through the file folder where it was supposed to be I came across an 8X10 glossy of...geez...what's this?
Looks like a guy, but...there's part missing...I can see the back of his head, but...
HOLY SHIT! It's a guy's head with the top of the skull sheared off. I'm looking at his damned BRAINS.

Turns out the photog's secret little passion was collecting photos of semi dismembered crash victims.

whew

17. Yow!
Curiosity is one thing; morbid fascination another; squirreling away dismemberment photos goes way someplace else, I think...

18. The guy had 4 antennas on his car.
ALL the police and fire bands.
As soon as something grisly happened, he was THERE!
Yeah, weird.
