Post a really good cover version of a song that's already really good to begin with.
To start us off (and probably finish as well, with my track record), here's the Arcade Fire performing The Clash's "Guns Of Brixton."

"Whiskey in the Jar" by Thin Lizzy ('70's hard rock group who did "The Boys are Back in Town", "Cowboy Song", etc.) is good as well. Theirs may be the original, or it could be an early cover version.

The great part about it is that they don't try to copy Stevie in any way. They made it uniquely RHCP- the good, funky, kick-ass version of RHCP, not the lame rock ballad version.

I love both versions almost equally. I can't say that for too many remakes. Especially when people try to mess with Stevie.

112. A few
John Lennon's cover of "Stand by Me"

Harry Nilsson's cover of Randy Newman's "Sail Away" (They were friends, there is an album called Nilsson Sings Newman--Trivia). Randy plays it in F major, Harry plays it in F sharp major. F is easier.

Hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower. I didn't know it was a Dylan song, since I was not a Dylan fan (flame away-he mumbles).

than his own version. I think before Hendrix did his version of the song, it was not one of Dylan's better known songs (but, I could be wrong on that)

And, I'm not a big fan of Dylan's music. I respect his music, and I agree with his message, but I just never loved his music. The same thing with Bruce Springsteen - respect his music, agree with his message and his politics, just never loved his music.

113. "With a Little Help from My Friends" by Joe Cocker
One of the few Beatles covers that I like more than their original.

Some other cool ones:

"My Back Pages" by The Byrds/Bob Dylan
"It Ain't Me Babe" by The Turtles/Bob Dylan
"Hello, It's Me" by Todd Rundgren/The Nazz (kind of Rundgren covering his own song, but I figure it still counts...)
"Cinnamon Girl" by The Gentrys/Neil Young
"Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" by Ben Folds Five/BJ Thomas (hey, I like this song; I can't speak for anyone else!)

Well, those are just a few; I'm sure there are plenty of good ones out there.

Iggy Pop - I Wanna Be Your Dog Lyrics

So messed up I want you here
In my room I want you here
Now were gonna be face-to-face
And Ill lay right down in my favorite place
And now I wanna be your dog
Now I wanna be your dog
Now I wanna be your dog
Well cmon
Now Im ready to close my eyes
And now Im ready to close my mind
And now Im ready to feel your hand
And lose my heart on the burning sands
And now I wanna be your dog
And now I wanna be your dog
Now I wanna be your dog
Well cmon
