Writing again

A long time agao, I used to write -- a lot. Somewhere along the line, life got in the way and the writing stopped. I would try here and there, but was never able to sustain the effort. My recent forays into the Lounge have got me writing again, but now I'm taking it out of the Lounge and getting back to my poetry and short stories. I have a lot to draw on, and for a time my efforts will likely be on the more melancholy side, but I do best when I write about what I know best. (How often do 'melancholy' and 'best' ever appear in the same sentence?)

It's rough and unpolished, but since I'm not able to share photos right now, here's a "snapshot" of me. I promise to post happier pieces in the future -- as life allows. :-)

Limbo

Every day is the same as the day before.

I reach back for memories of what was
Only to have them crumble like ash upon my touch.

I reach forward to hope of what may be
Only to find the hope is a mirage that never was.

I am caught in the half light
Between day and night --
Between life and death.

Every day is the same as the day before.

No moving forward.
No going back.

Just standing still,
Listening to my heart –
Wishing it would stop,
Ending the pain of loss
At last.

Every day is the same as the day before.

As limbo becomes hell.
