The transistion to Mac from Windoze...Interesting so far...
I got my MacBook 2 days ago. So far, so good :)

I rarely use Macs normally, and when I have it's always been a a desktop. I think I'm doing ok, just learning as I go. Also picked up "Switching to the Mac" at B&N today. :)

But, I LOVE this machine...Best decision I've made since I started talking to Sniffa, almost 2 years ago now. :D

:hi:

1. Welcome to the club!
You won't be sorry you switched. I switched back to Macs after ten years on Windows (before that I'd used nothing but Macs right back to 1984). It was like coming home; I'd forgotten what it was like to spend 95% of my time actually using a computer rather than figuring out what was wrong with it.

To make Windows work, you have to know Windows. To make Macs work you just have to know what you want to do.

3. I learned on an Apple IIC and IIE...
But at some point, my dad bought a pc, and I haven't really used an Apple/Mac product since the 80s. I started using them in the computer lab at school last semester, so I had a lil bit of training there. Pretty easy though :)

9. 17 years
We have always had windows. She has an ipod, so I thought she would like the laptop. She tried it for a few days, but did not like the language. She said it was just too foreign to her.

5. Macs Are Mostly More Intuitive
my experience has been that you often can't open files as easily that come from PC's

but I imagine that is all changing as Macs have Intel parts and the software is very similar for both.

I started on Macs, but I like PC'ing better.

8. Yeah, You Won't Be Virii'ed
Macs are fun

and like I said, they usually come pretty well loaded with software and at least you aren't being spied on by Bill Gates

congrats :toast:

12. All I need to purchase is Office for Mac
The Student/Teacher version is only $149. My Stats class is Excel based, so it's a must have right now.

And thank you! :)

14. There ya go!
that's a good price

and office for Mac is able to read and write so that PC's can read and write them now.

I remember a time when that was a lot harder

I'd probably like a Mac today much more than the one I used to have.

:hi:

glad your e-coli is better

13. I surely will
I definitely recommend getting a book too, for help with all the little differences and shortcuts, etc. Makes it much easier. I've learned a ton in just the past few hours, reading and experimenting. :)

Good luck!
