1. I'm not so sure about the yum yum yum part....

....I remember feeling it scorch my esophagus on its way to my stomach. Of course this was after two shots of Ouzo.

11. This was in Germany a few years ago...

...when I was visiting one of my college buddies. We had gone to a soccer match with his father-in-law and wife's uncle. We stopped at a Greek restaurant on the way home (ouzo was served with the meal). When we got back to the F-I-L's place, F-I-L brought a bottle of Aquavit out of the freezer to share. I credit my survival of that evening to not introducing the Latin revolutionary Senor Tequila to the proceedings.

I probably wouldn't like it anyway. My dad always told me not to drink anything that came in a small glass when drinking in a bar.

I might like it if it tastes like red licorice. It would make me puke if it tasted like black licorice.

And I like Ouzo (What's not to like? It's 80 proof!) but the anise flavor is a lot more delicate in akvavit.

You might instead like Jubilamus (sp.?) akvavit - it's more flavored like dill.
