Well here's a commercial I hate
It's for the Visa Check Card. It is set in a fast-food-type place, with lines of people, cooks, register operators, etc, all moving in syncopated movement to the Warner Bros. "Mad Machine" music, all of them moving through the place like clockwork or like they are cogs in a machine. Then someone tries to pay with cash, and the entire machine of people comes to a screeching halt. The customer machine pays with the Visa Check Card instead, and the machine starts up and everyone becomes a cog again.

I'm sure Visa really doesn't care that much that the message of the commercial is that people should be more like machines.

5. The "hive-society" depicted in THX-1138 is _NOT_ an ideal to aspire to.

4. Thank you. Nice to know I'm not the only one who detests that commercial. And for
just the same reason as you detest it.

6. Yeah, that one kinda shocked me
because the people who put that commercial together must think (perhaps for good reason depending on what research if any they did) that this is a message people are reciptive too.

7. I like it - it strikes me as more of a dance than cogs in a machine... (nt)

8. It's a stupid commercial.
Not only for the reason you mention, but cash does not take longer than debit cards. If there's any difference it's the opposite. You have to swipe in the card, sometimes more than once, punch in your pin and wait for the approval. How is that faster than handing over cash and receiving change?
