Police apprehend woman after shoplifting attempt
Fri, Jan 19, 2007

By KAREN DAILY Staff writer

An Aiken woman caught stuffing bacon down her pants and packing a purse full of other items at Wal-Mart Wednesday was arrested after she pulled a knife on two store employees in an attempt to escape, police said.

...

Police said she threatened the Wal-Mart employees with a knife and a cane after she was caught stealing.

She was trying to make off with the goods that she had stolen from the Southside retailer when she retaliated, according to arrest warrants.

1. "Old"? she is 43?!
She went for the pricey stuff I see:

In addition to the meat, she took makeup, medicine, printer cartridges

I would have guessed 60+ and aging badly.

6. I think so too.
That would explain taking things like printer cartridges that could be sold.

It's sad in a way, but I still find the bacon down the pants pretty funny.

7. Same here...
There are some places that bacon just should not go

I just hope it was the refridgerated kind, and not that freaky "bacon in a box" crap that you buy off the shelf :D

9. Shelf stable bacon scares me almost as much as shelf stable chicken.
When I was growing up and learning to cook my dad was working as a chef and had the requisite obsessions with safety and cleanliness, so he generally instilled in me the idea that chicken and pork ought to be handled with slightly more caution than nuclear waste.

Those little juice boxes full of shelf stable cow's milk creep me out too. I can kinda wrap my head around the idea that they won't kill anybody, but I can't understand who hates their kid enough to have them suffer room temperature milk. :puke: <- leftykid's "coughing triangles" smilie

10. Same here!
I believe that if you're going to consume meat and/or dairy, it should be cold, and fresh, unless we're talking about something like jerky or other smoked/cured products.

And yeah, irradiated warm milk.... :puke:

3. I guess Wal-mart was this week's target...
Did you see this near the end of the story:

This is the second such violent attack on store employees this week, according to reports.

On Monday, a Michigan couple was arrested after the pair had a run-in with store security and police, officials said.

The two were each charged with stealing a television from the store, but the male half of the pair was also charged with assault and battery with intent to kill after he attempted to run a person down in the parking lot while trying to escape, police said.

I'm glad I didn't need anything from there.

23. seitan rocks
I have a shirt that says "praise seitan" and has an inverted pent made out of forks. Like the one on the bottom here, http://herbivoreclothing.com/his.html but a tank top.

I love that shirt.

Uh, I think I wandered off topic there. Vegans suck, for real. Have you ever noticed how none of the good DUers are vegan? ThomCat? Troll! flvegan? Idjit. MyCritters2's dog? Actually a bobcat in a beagle suit, surviving on songbirds and small children. Elad? Really, really, really deep cover troll.

Oh, and Dennis Kucinich draws paychecks from the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and the RNC, but you didn't hear that from me. ;)
