Random question of the day.. For Dr. Pepper drinkers
Do all Dr. Pepper and Mr. Pibb drinkers also like the taste of cough syrup? Do you consider yourself more 'odd', 'unique' or 'creative' than your non-Dr. Pepper drinking friends?

I love the taste of cough syrup, always have, especially when I was a kid. I also drink Dr. Pepper exclusively. I'm asking this question because I heard someone on TV the other day claim that all Dr. Pepper drinkers are odd. I've had several people throughout my life say the same thing.

I even got a date once because a coworker liked that I drank Dr. Pepper. She said it meant I was "alternative", and in the mid 90's that was apparently a good thing to be. Weird huh?

What's up with this magical elixir?

1. When I was in college, I practically lived on Diet Dr. Pepper
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 08:40 PM by Lydia Leftcoast
Of course, when I was in college, I consumed all sorts of junk, including a lot of Hostess cupcakes.

I like some cough syrups and not others. My all-time favorite was a prescription medicine from my childhood called Cheracol. My least favorite was Elixir of Terpin Hydrate. Nasty stuff.

2. Sorry, Diet Dr. Pepper is a completely different drink
Ever had the real deal?

I know it's junk, but it's so damn tasty. I'm rail thin, so I figure I can indulge here and there.

4. Yes, I've had the real thing, but I don't like
sugary drinks. At this point, I avoid artificially sweetened drinks, too.

My nonalcoholic drinks of choice are black coffee, unsweetened ice tea, unsweetened chai with soy milk, and sparkling water with a bit of fruit juice.

3. People who drink Dr Pepper are odd?
really?

:D

Actually, I don't like the stuff. It may have something to do with not being Born In The USA (I also don't like peanut butter as a chocolate filling, don't care for nuts in every single food item (or so it sometimes seems), and also don't like that every other food item in this country is cherry-flavored, inevitably with the maraschino kind of cherries that usually don't taste like cherries at all). I was eager to try my first Dr Pepper, the first full day I had in the US....I was considerably less eager to try it again. :-)

5. Dr. Pepper is the Nectar of the Gods and no, I don't
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 12:28 AM by QMPMom
particularly care for cough syrup. Can't remember the last time I used cough syrup.

I can remember when I had my last Dr. Pepper. It was yesterday. The Pepsi brand machine at work wasn't working today so I had Ginger Ale. Hopefully I can get my Dr. Pepper fix tomorrow. I had my first Dr. Pepper when I was three. I was standing beside the leather La-Z-Boy chair in my Grandparent's living room. My Uncle got me addicted to it then and I've been drinking it for 46 years now.

I guess it is odd that I remember my first Dr. Pepper, isn't it?
