Overheard in a staff meeting this morning: "Explanation point"
:yoiks: This was in reference to needing an "exclamation point" at the end of a sentence. I thought I was hearing things, but she said it again twice. Supposedly this woman has a master's degree.

That's as bad as a former roommate calling ibuprofen "ibupropan" repeatedly... :(

1. It's been my experience
that the higher the degree, the stupider the individual. I was smarter after pre-school than after college. :o)

The owner (!) of a consulting firm I worked for said this all the time. I wondered how ANY client would trust his advice.

33. One of my coworkers asked me to bring her the blurry fax I received from her
so she could refax it to me. She said it was her only copy.

I thought about telling her that what she used to fax the first time could also be used, but it seemed simpler to just do as she asked.

At least they're using a real word -- you can work with that, then blame the ensuing confusion on their misused word.

15. A classic!
We had a guy at a former company I worked for who thought a bunch of storm-tossed damage was 'derbis'.

"Wow, that was a powerful storm - look at all that derbis."

It took me quite a few minutes before I realized he meant 'debris'. :eyes:

One that I found (and seems to have gone out of business in the last few weeks, since they are no longer listed for this town....)

was discussing the decor of their rooms. They were quite proud of this one room with deep violet colored walls. You know...like the eggplant. "Aborigine" colored walls.

*including* all the media, pronounces asphalt (the stuff you pave roads with) ash-phalt. It drives me insane. I got so tired of hearing *ashphalt* that I called the radio station one day and spelled it for them and asked where the *h* was in the word.

You can ask the freaking Premier of the Province what that stuff is that you pave roads with and he will answer ashphalt.

Grrrrr!!!
