I finally found the business I'm going to start!
Knot-making.

William Sonoma is selling the small knot for $68.00, (the large is $98.00) I think I could make and sell the small one for $50 and maybe add a medium-sized knot to my product line.

My husband used to be in the Coast Guard so I'm sure he could teach me how to make knots, plus I once tried knot-making at Plymouth Plantation and the Pilgrim told me I did a good job :-).

I just need to do some research to determine how big the market is for knots. Anyone interested in buying a knot?

6. I'll take a gross
Well, maybe...KNOT!

In the same vein, I am constantly amazed at the ridiculous prices for very (VERY) simple jewelry in those "upscale yet earthy" catalogs like Sundance. (Our motto: "It takes a ton of cash to look this scruffy.") So may I steal your idea? I can throw together a beaded necklace or leather thong bracelet for about 30 cents and apparently charge $350...

8. Frayed knot
Ah, the punchline of one of my favorite jokes, which starts "a string walked into a bar....."

S.O. and I want to start a business doing tattoo removal. I know we'll get rich.

12. Only one of you should go into that business.
The other should go into the business of giving really crappy tattoos.

9. That knot is called a Monkey's Fist
I've tied a couple of them in my day. As you probably guessed, it's an old seafarer's knot.

Good luck with your new career.

14. And it's for 'heaving'.
"I think I'm gonna heave."
"Here, hold this."

Oh lord, I DO crack myself up.

15. I just read the blurb about them on the website...
"Intriguing objects, rich in texture and reminiscent of summers by the sea, these knots will spark conversation and inspire reverie wherever they're placed. The small size makes a distinctive bookend or desk ornament. The larger is hefty enough to prop a door. Made from abaca rope knotted over a rattan core. Small, 6" diam.; 7" handle; Large, 81/2" diam.; 9" handle."

Spark conversation and inspire reverie? I'd just be thinking, "Oh. A knot."
