I do every year. I have no idea why, but it's pretty consistent. Maybe it's just apprehension about all the checks I'll screw up the date on for the next six months or so. :P I also typically take a very long time to remember my correct age after I turn another year older (somehow that hasn't been such a problem after my last birthday, though. :eyes: )

1. My dear Lara.......
Actually, I don't feel any dread......

I always wonder, though, just what my life will be like this year.....

Will it be better or worse than last year?

Where will I go?

Who will I get to see?

Stuff like that......

Happy New Year, sweetie!

Hope you finally got sufficient sleep!

:toast:

:loveya:

5. Thanks, Peggy!
I slept in, this morning. That was a very good thing.
Happy New Year to you and yours.

2. For the last five years, I have had a terrible feeling of impending doom
and so far, I've been right each time. Hoping to break the streak in 2007. Ugh.

6. I can relate.
I just get this gloomy, icky-stomach feeling. Seven and thirteen are my unlucky numbers, so that doesn't help. Let's officially decide that this will be "OUR YEAR"!

:D

4. Not this year, I don't. I'm pure optimism.
I'm on my way out of a hideously bad marriage, on a much better track career-wise, and we're starting the year with control of congress.

I've never been so happy to welcome a new year. :toast:

8. Well, it's hard to ignore the whole "we OWN the Congress," part, isn't it?
Gotta smile about that one!

13. one of my good friends does
he got wasted last night and spent the entire new year's eve fireworks ceremony bemoaning how old he is, how old we are, and all the stuff we were supposed to have by now that we don't have

it don't help that he has a birthday in early january so i guess NYE is doubly traumatic

this morning he said he had terrible, terrible nightmares all last night about being washed away in a flood in our house, this tho i think we can safely put down to being new orleans, we in this area all have such nightmares

it's okay to feel what you feel, you have identified a pattern, it won't stop you doing anything you want to do

15. Same here!
We have been off school since Dec. 21. We are going back to the long, draggy part of the year....
Nothing much to look forward to until Easter now.

I'm almost constantly aware of it. Too aware.

20. I thought I was the only one!
My anxiety always rises with the beginning of a new year. It may be the end of the holiday season, shorter days, financial worries, getting back into a normal routine...but I feel it every year, too.

In fact January is a very difficult month and I will sometime require a trip to the Dr for some antidepressants and/or anti anxiety meds depending on the severity of my moods.

21. I have a feeling of apprehension about the upcoming year
and usually I don't. I expect some bad things to happen (to our country) but this year I expect it to be more bad than 2001. More bad for all of us, and very bad for some of us. But usually I don't worry about it ahead of time. Our national debt is incredible, other countries want to dump the dollar, our government has already set up the North American Union, and that doesn't count natural disasters, which seem to have become much more frequent and numerous than they used to be.

In my own little universe, if I can keep my job and my apartment building doesn't slide off the hillside, I'd guess my best might be good enough for another year . . . .

Oh, uh --- Happy New Year, everybody ~~~!!!

22. Sort of....
..perhaps not so much dread as resignation. I'm a CPA and my "busy season" starts 1/2 - no days off until after 4/15.

I'm feeling a great deal of dread this year. I have no fucking clue what I'm doing or where I'm going. It's scary, and lonely.

24. not dread, but some apprehension
I really think it's due to the quiet after the storm of X-mas, and then the cold months ahead.

Or the book report my son hasn't worked on all vacation!

I always make a list of things I accomplished or learned, at the end of the year, and that puts the past year in perspective.
