and my wife and I got the the tourist tour. THE TOURIST TOUR! My son had his NASA badge on, and occasionally rolled his eyes as the guide went through his spiel.

The next time I went, we avoided the tourist stuff. My son got a badge for me and we I got to walk on the floor where they train the astronauts and into the control room for Mission Control. Also, we walked into the simulators for the shuttle and the space station.

As we walked around, my son introduced me to his co-workers that that I was his dad. What a great time.

I was a proud dad.

27. That was great tour.
I got to do the same thing at White Sands in New Mexico when I was a kid.

My father had old Navy friend who worked there, I still remember that tour.

31. Yeah...pretty cool being on the inside...even kinda...
My dad was retired army and we pretty much had the run of Offutt AFB (Nebraska) with our ID cards.

We thought we were special. LOL. We weren't of course, but it was pretty fun to think that we had the officers privileges.

37. that's cool
My sweetie has applied at NASA a bunch of times over the years, never even got an interview.
BS/MS in physics. Would have loved to work in R&D, except that this country is too cheap to invest in R&D in engineering or anything else, because it's "not practical" and takes thinking past the next quarter's profits.
