DU Men! Help me choose a nice watch for my husband for Christmas?
I have been saving mightily all year and I can splurge on his gift.

Which watch would you choose? Omega? Movado? Seiko?

Men's watches are so expensive but he hasn't had one in years and he really needs one.

Or..I could get him the ball-shaver that is all the rage around here today.
Too bad they don't make a watch with a built-in ball shaver?

1. It depends on what you want him to get and what he needs.
Do you want him to shave his balls more than he wants a watch?

4. Oh, now that is an interesting question.
But basically, so we don't get locked here, he always manicures his boys beautifully.

So a watch would definitely be on top of my list.

5. LOL. I bought my husband a watch last year for Christmas. And he loved it.
He says he feels naked whenever he doesn't wear it.

Is your man a suit type, jeans and t-shirt, or a "I could care less" type of guy?

7. Here's the website I used last year to find a watch for him.
I looked more than once, keeping in mind which ones stood out. I didn't just pick the one that I thought was "perfect" the first time I looked at the site. I let my reaction set in for a few days and looked at the site a few more times.

I know how hard it can be 'cause you wanna find the best one. But just go with how you feel after looking at them a few times.

8. Would you go gold or silver or platinum?
Thanks for that link! I'll peruse it tomorrow with my morning coffee.

9. I find silver very manly.
Gold can be cheesy and platinum is just too expensive. But if you can afford it, then go for platinum.

10. Me too! But he leans toward gold to match his wedding ring..which he never wears.
I think silver is the way to go.

2. I got my husband a Swiss Army watch last year for his birthday
It is a pocket watch (he will NOT wear a wrist watch).

It is a gorgeous watch and an excellent timepiece.

11. I like Seikos
But avoid the Kinetic. After a few years, the capacitor inside loses its ability to hold a charge. Expensive to repair. Even when the cap is good, if you don't wear it a day or two, it will stop running.

13. OK..that might explain some things.
I've bought him Seikos before but he lets them sit for days at a time....and they never keep time.

18. Of the three you mention, I like Movado the best...
I use to be a jewelry salesmen back home, and we carried Movado, those things were damn sharp looking...but spendy, the low end for our watches was about 800 for the Movado line...

I take it his job is rather, non-physical if you are contemplating a Movado watch...if his job is rather physical I'd go with a cheaper brand...

I wasn't much of a watch/jewelry type of guy, and the look of those watches had me thinking of getting one...

21. I have a Pulsar solar powered watch I like a lot.

A bit clunky, but it meets my criteria:
1. Analog, not digital.
2. Numbers big enough for me to see without my reading glasses.
3. A bezel. I use it for timing stuff on the grill. Couldn't cook without one.

Best of all, it's solar powered. No batteries ever.
