I walked into a large bar at 9:30 am this morning
And the place was packed with early morning drinkers doing what looked like some serious drinking. Nobody was eating pancakes if you know what I mean.

1. Was it storm related?
It starts out like it's going to be a joke. Hopefully, it was the IHOP who asked for your ID before being served!

2. No joke
I joined the American Legion two years ago but have never been by my local post. I was riding by this morning and saw cars, lot's of them and stopped in to grab a calender. The place was packed, cocktail glasses, cigarette smoke and pitchers of beer throughout the room. I was there at 9:30 am but it appeared as though the party had started long before my arrival.

3. Legion halls can be sad this way.
My father knows that he can find some of his old buddies at the local post any time of the day.

7. I know of only one VFW post that doesn't serve alcohol
One of the members said they have to work harder than most posts do to raise revenue without alcohol sales to help. I think they had a hot-dog stand in a business park that they ran.

9. Yeah, kinda...I dunno...strange?
And sad, I guess.
Same thing in the little town in NH where I lived.
Especially on Sunday morning when all the other 'public' bars were closed.

5. I used to book bands
...into a longshoreman's bar. Empty at night, but when the boys got off work at 8 a.m., the place was hoppin'. :)

10. Same when I worked ATC midnight shifts.
When we got off work we were ready for a few beers.
Didn't matter if it was 5 p.m. or 8 a.m.
:-)

I'll bet that I made more Bloody Marys than anything else.

I make a killer Bloody Mary, if I do say so myself.

Edit: I forgot to mention that we opened at 9:00am.
