I met the most awesome panhandler
outside the pub tonight. He told us jokes that were actually really funny and entertained us for quite a while. He called me 'stunning', Rach 'gorgeous' and Will 'dapper'.
I suspect he was drunk. He was also lots of fun.
I enjoy people like that.

1. There's a cool street poet here in Tempe...
His name is "William Wonderful". A friend of mine posted a video of him on YouTube (but "Wonderful" is spelled slightly wrong).

He refuses to be seen as a panhandler, beggar or anything. Instead he chats with passersby, reads them poems he wrote, and offers to sell sheets containing his poetry for any contribution they feel like making.

His poems are really quite good.

3. Sounds a bit like a busker
I have an electric friend whose teenage daughter does some busking — not for the money, but because she enjoys it.

especially if they think they are funny

i just can't stand those people, i'm glad somebody is entertained by them, makes it easier for me to sneak away

and for the love of all that is holy spare me the dancing and the magic tricks! (yes i live in new orleans)

19. our panhandlers will piss on your shoes & threaten you with a knife...
for half that, i did see one black dude at the 2nd Sat art-walk shucking & jiving 'tap dancing' in raggedy sneakers while a handful of white people clapped along as he sang selections from 'the sound of music'...of all things

it's got nothing to do with the Poconos, although you can be played there too

20. There's a sax player who busks in the train station
who is wonderful. I notice his instrument case is always full of money, because he brightens everyone's day.

There's a guy who play electric guitar, loudly and badly, in the same concourse at the end of the day, and he never has ANY money in his guitar case. I don't feel sorry for him either - he hurts my ears.

Whether music or comedy, I'm happy to fork over $1 for good entertainment.
