I called my mother on Christmas
Being inspired by "Home Alone", the Simple Plan song "Perfect", other reconciliation situations that have come up, and my own conscience/spiritual obligations, I finally called her. I almost had a panic attack dialing the phone, but I did it. She wasn't mean to me or anything. We just talked about small stuff like what we had been doing for the past year, but that's something.
Before this phone call, I hadn't talked to her for over a year. I don't know how things will turn out, but I hope it is for the best.

1. Good for you Nikia...
I am sure it was not easy but then again first steps never are, but the ones following that one get easier.

I once was not fond of my mother and spoke with her very rarely. I then got a PC and she was on AIM. We would IM one another every night. I would talk to her as I do my friends and now while I still don't feel all that close to her I feel we have a real relationship. There are just some things my mom will never do and I must accept those things.

Congratulations...what a way to start a new year..by speaking to your mom!

2. Hope it turns out ok. The last time I let my female parent "in" she
turned around and attacked me VICIOUSLY in a horrible, evil, nasty, bile filled letter. It was awful.

She still sends cards to my daughter, and I just simply throw them away before the kid can see them. I have to protect my child from that sort of mental illness. It really is my job to protect her from that, otherwise, I'm at fault for any damage done.

I hope it goes well, but when people aren't 'right', it's hard to say how it will all turn out. Good luck.. you're not the only one with parental problems and issues. Right there with ya.
