4. My favorite Avon quote:
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 03:46 PM by AllegroRondo
(from Orbit)

Avon: Not enough! Not nearly enough! Dammit, what weighs seventy kilos?
Orac: Vila weighs seventy-three kilos, Avon.
Avon: Vila, are you here? I need your help.

He had a great, no-nonsense kind of evil.

5. And the context:
In a boobytrapped ship, they needed to eject another 70 kilos of weight to reach escape velocity. :D

Lovely stuff; back in the day when sci-fi was more action-based rather than soap opera-based.

6. If only modern sci-fi shows would get the hint
fans dont care if the special effects suck. We want well written stories with realistic characters, who grow and interact and make you think. Blake had some of the worst special effects and costumes ever, but the character interaction and development was first rate. Those stories are still some of the best. They didnt have to beat you over the head with the idea that Avon would kill Vila to survive - as soon as Orac said it, you knew he would.

Compare that to some of the new crap coming from Hollywood. At least the new season of Dr Who is worth watching.

11. Don't believe the reviews... it's NOT Doctor Who...
the third episode was downright unnerving.

12. It wo't hit the a US network unless it's HBO/etc..
50 minutes per episode and some very incorrect moments.

14. 'Cyberwoman' is next week.
I dunno. The orgasm-eating monster was pathetic enough; now they have to throw in Cybermen because they can't win people over to Torchwood on its own...

17. Sorry mate... you ain't watching the same show as I am...
- the "orgasm-eating monster" was (IIRC in the words of one of the writer, the "silliest thing we could throw at Gwen" for her first day... giving Gwen the chance to give the team another way to do things. The 'monster' wasn't the story, it was Gwen forceing them to save the victim, rather than just dump them both in a cell/body bag and hide the damage.

- the 'ghost machine' gave some rather startling insight into Owen, and the demons of the choices we make.. and the ones one don't/

- as for the "Cyberwoman".. well, names are misleading sometimes... this one's actually a love story...

(If you've only see clips and want to see the whole things (and the 'Declassified' companion series), drop me a PM.
