...completely. Consequently, I don't have the slightest idea of what you're referring to. Did this take place in the Lounge? I hardly ever go there.

I realize that given the size of DU, as well as it's IRRESISTABLE attraction to Freak Republic type disruptors, the moderators have to be ever alert to problems, and decisive. BUT:
1). There should be some process for recovering from a bad call or a hasty call.
2). Such drastic action, should be done regretfully, rather than exultantly.

And YES, I STILL enjoyed Bob Boudelang's unique style. It varied in quality from time to time, but that was to be expected. When a person is "good", he himself becomes a hard act to follow, week after week.

of my participation in neither. If you have read the banned poster's postings you too would be exultant. I don't cotton to be personally attacked everytime one disagrees with me. This was the MO of "MrBobBoudelang". It wasn't the first time, it was the worst time. As a former moderator, I can attest to this person's ability to cause trouble. I suggest you try moderating sometime, it opens your eyes to a whole new side of DU. That said, the column couldn't hold a candle to Auntie Pinko. :hi:

And I sure as hell ain't Homer! (Meaning I apparently DID miss it all)

What got me "hypersensitive" to possible bad calls on the part of moderators is this: A few years back, a good friend of mine got "banned" here. He was born in Holland and didn't learn to speak English until his late teens. Consequently, his English although superb, has an "edge" to it --- perhaps something like the "Berliner Schnauze" of Weimar Germany. He didn't "flame" anybody here, but he did post something in the Swiftian manner. Someone apparently took him for a Freeper" and must have sounded an alarm. I made a posting about that, and the mods soon reconsidered. I won't mention his screen name, but it's now quite well regarded here. Although retired (as I am now) he's a member of the same maritime union as I am. On that union's BBS, his "literary style" also threw a few into some consternation. But they "adapted", and soon grew to relish his occasional postings. Perhaps not surprisingly, he too enjoyed Bob Boudelang.

5. Yep, it's amazing how stupid some people can be.

It was actually with someone who has a year of "martial arts" experience in "combined gymnastic martial arts program" trying to argue street self-defense with me. Apparently, his year of backflips trumps my 13 years of self-defense focused training. Boggles the fucking mind.
