It has been Happy Al Franken day at my house today
We all got a copy of his book Lying Liars from some one else. I have another copy sent to my oldest son in NC.

I also received the latest Harry Potter and Hilary's book, a Lexmark all in one copier/Fax/printer/scanner and a new phone. But Al Franken was the major theme this year.

Happy Franken Day!

2. I was surprised my younger son asked for it
Edited on Thu Dec-25-03 12:49 PM by Cheswick
He is at college and keeps amazing me with what a great adult he is turning into. Yesterday he told me a story about throwing a frat brother out of his room for using the word Fagot and other ugly talk about homosexuals. My son made the kid leave and told him he had "uncles" who died of aids and he wouldn't permit that kind of prejudice in his presence. He told him the same went for the "N word". He tortured the kid with the silent treatment for a week until the kid apologized and promised not to do it again.
(he was also voted pledge master for the next semester and informed everyone before the vote that he would not be hazing pledges and if he caught anyone else doing it they would have to answer to him. Most of the guys were not happy, but Ian was elected by an overwhelming margin anyway.)

My other son is getting the book too because he said to me this summer he didn't want to be "too liberal" and had been listening to O'Reilly. I figure if this book makes him laugh, it will break some of the spell cast on him by the popular culture of conservatism that seems to have made him doubt his liberal roots.

4. Ian is a wonderful young man!
Congratulations to you for raising him to be so sensitive and caring. Most importantly, for having the courage to stand up for what he believes in rather than remain silent.

Good job, Cheswick!

7. I read that chapter in the book store and it made me angry
If only there was some liberal media on TV to counter the right wing's outrageous behavior.

12. I got two copies of Al Franken's book
One from my mom and one from my hubbie. Now I've got to figure out what to do with the second copy.

My sister-in-law gave me a book called "I Hate Republicans". I've never heard of it but it looks like it will be a fun read. Seems my family has got me pegged.

16. I do a lot of class work and printing reports
So I think this is still cheaper than paying for copies. But you are right, the ink is expensive.
