20. Until I saw the collections
I didn't think Uli was going to be a contender, but I thought hers was the best of the 4. With all the problems Jeffrey created for himself (over-budget, missing receipts, etc), that should have knocked him out, but who knows what the judges were thinking.

7. Are you kidding me?
The judges had it exactly right. I wouldn't have agreed with them yesterday, but after seeing the final collections, I must agree. They knew what they were getting at.

6. *****SPOILERS****
SPOILERS

YOU WERE WARNED!

*******
*********
**********

Places:
#4 Michael (judges said had great talent, but needed maturity--his colelction, quite frankly, was kinda skanky)

#3 Laura (Exquisite crafting, but not much of an artistic vision. Her beadwork was astounding, though.)

#2 Uli (She got away from the prints, made some stellar pieces, really had great craftwork and creativity, but she lacked a true focus and cohesiveness)

#1 Jeffrey (By far the most innovative, with really excellent craftwork. What probably cinched it for him was his cohesiveness--he had by far the largest range and yet nothing seemed out of place)

9. This is why this win pissed me off
I thought this show was for new designers looking for their big break! Not a designer who already works for another clothing line with exposure!! BULLSHIT

12. I would have to say that's the one thing that ticked me off
But there was nothing in the rules that said you had to be in 'amateur status' and Jeffrey's career was not designing clothes but designing jackets

14. judging by the remarks on the PR blog
fans feel Uli was robbed. Jeffrey is like Bush with a 20-30% approval rating. Then there are those kool-aide drinkers.

21. Considering people were actually asking
where they could buy HER stuff, I'm not surprised. I would buy her stuff, & Laura's too. Jeffrey's dressed for coked-up Barbies? Hell no.

22. For some reason, wearability is the kiss of death on PR.
When they say "All women would want to wear your clothing", they don't mean it as a compliment. It's ridiculous, really. This season overall was the worst PR, and the win was just more suckiness added on to the big pile of suck that was this season. Jeffrey does not know how to dress women. When I saw his line in the first part of the finale, I thought it was great. I thought he would win. But when I saw it on the runway, I thought it looked terrible. None of the clothes seemed to fit well, and a few made his models look pregnant. The striped dress with zippers looks really cool on the hanger, but on his model, it made her hips look huge. Just not flattering at all. I was certain the judges would comment on that. That, combined with his going over budget should have knocked him out. When I saw Uli's, I thought, "She won this." And, if this had been more like season 1 or 2, I think that's how it would have happened. The show is a victim of its own success.

I think the whole "It doesn't tell a story/the line isn't cohesive" crap is just a way to screw over the designer that should win in order to give it to the designer they wanted to win. I think producers were more involved in their manipulation this season, both during the show and the finale. I think the "controversy" with Jeffry during the finale was manufactured. I think they had a final four because they didn't want to auf Jeffry. The fact that Vincent lasted so long is evidence enough. Bleh. If there's a 4th season, I don't know if i'll bother.

15. I feel vindicated!
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 10:58 PM by Ramsey
I believe I have said every week that Jeffrey was the best designer- and so he was!

I thought that Laura and Jeffrey both did really good shows. Laura just didn't manage to break out of her sequin/scoop neck cocktail dress mode, and whoa- too many feathers! I personally don't gravitate to Uli's aesthetic, although I can see her appeal. She didn't really innovate either. Michael really dropped the ball with a messy, overly overtly sexed up and rather incoherent show. As LynneSin likes to say- too hoochy mama!

I love Jeffrey's looks. He's by far the most innovative designer of this season, and while he had some clunkers along the way, his show was definitely the most creative and coherent. I would love to have at least half of his outfits, including the striped zipper dress, the white leather pants, the swimsuit and that great top with long ribbons. I was so glad that because he went over budget he decided to drop the wigs. I really think all those platinum blond wigs would have distracted from his clothes and potentially ruined his show.

Jeffrey's designs remind me of pieces I have by designers like Gaultier, Morgan le Fay and Roberto Cavalli. Rock n'roll!!

....You saved yourself the room charge that would have inevitably occurred if you had thrown a shoe through the TV after seeing the results.

I can't believe that wanker Jeffrey won.
