He drives me crazy. But apparently lots of people like him. I just can't climb aboard that particular wagon.

2. I find him incredibly annoying.
I saw his little stunt in front of the White House, and didn't think it was funny at all.

31. I get the feeling watching him that I used to get alot watching SNL
It's like, this was good for maybe one joke, maybe a one liner. And they sat down and made a whole long, drawn out skit out of it, and drove it into the ground. Except in this case they made it into a freaking movie. He is good at taking the piss out of ignorant rednecks, but even that takes to damn long.

3. Whats a borat?
Sounds like some sort of rat that likes to burrow. A bore-rat.

Some sort of burrowing rat that wears a speedo.

On edit: Those pictures are hilarious...he may actually be somebody I find funny. Any guy who does what he did in that picture deserves some sort of respect lol.

I think he's freaking BRILLIANT, and does some of the most dangerous social satire I've ever seen.

5. I haven't, no. Maybe that would give me a different perspective,
but so far, the bits I've seen with him make me curl my lip.

10. Saw the thing where he went to the White House gate.
And a couple of other things on The Daily Show or The Colbert Report. Maybe they were his worst moments.

13. I didn't think the WH bit was the funniest he's done, by far.
What works best are his interactions with other people, especially when he's able to get them to reveal jaw-dropping bigotry when their guard is down. Here's but two of many:

32. here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65d6_NQaOHo borat goes to a dating service

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M1AKVGD-FU borat goes hunting in texas

and here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJsukOL-0Os borat hangs out with a local republican party chapter and goes door to door with one of them who's running for congress...it's priceless

the thing about borat is that he shows americans to be what we are...a bunch of boorish, bigoted racists. he gets away with the things he does because nobody knows what the hell they do in kazahkastan (sp?) so they assume he's just acting normal and don't speak up.

I don't like the kind of humour that makes me want to cringe. I want to laugh out loud instead.

24. He was on the Jon Stewart benefit thing last night
Borat definitely strikes me as a one-dimensional character -- pidgin English and cluelessly inappropriate geekish behavior.

Gee, I wonder why Tom Green wasn't on last night's benefit... Tom? Tom??

25. The actor is very talented. Haven't seen enough of Borat to judge
I don't usually like that practical joke style humor, but Sacha Baron Cohen is very talented. Reminds me of Robin Williams, a little. He does voice acting in cartoons, too. He stole the show in "Madagascar," an otherwise boring film.

For those who hate confrontational comedy that makes you squirm in your seat (Jackass, Tom Green, etc..) Borat and Sasha Ben Cohen are not for them...

29. He is alright, but
I like Ali G and Bruno a lot better from the show.

You have to be pretty sharp to play that dumb. And come up with it off the top of your head. Like asking about someone driving a train into the White House.

33. I'm not sure I get him.
This is basically a reprint of my comments from another thread.

I've read of that time he sang the anti-semitic song in front of a redneck audience and got them to sing along. I totally get that humor- he's making fun of the bigotry of his redneck audience.

Now, with Borat, isn't he doing basically the same only more directly? He's just a Eastern European (by way of central Asia) stereotype and by laughing with him aren't you effectively singing along?

36. no way
if this well educated british jew didn't dress up like borat, there's no way in hell he'd be able to do anything that he does. the only reason he's able to get away with anything is because nobody knows anything about kazakhstan (probably borat included) so they just assume that he is only doing what is normal to him...and even with all of that he's still come mighty close to getting his ass kicked a few times...
