39. Blech today
It's cold and rainy outside; has been for almost a week (turned right cold from 30c and sunny), and it's sort of affecting my mood today. I just want to crawl back into bed and wake up tomorrow...

At least it hasn't snowed yet! They revised the forecast, which of course means nothing. I had a dream I woke up and the drifts were 5 ft high. x(

Britain is so bright and sunny and warm...:spray:

Thanks for the hug. The forecast is that the temps will go back to a more seasonal 10-15c; which means either it'll go down to -20 and snow, or back up to 30. :silly:

53. Sunny and warm is shit
Most people like the concept of sunny and warm, but when they actually get it all they do is bitch. "It's too hot!" Few people are genuinely happy in hot weather. If Americans really liked hot weather, why would they all be so dependent on air conditioning? People who REALLY live in hot places usually don't have AC. What I want is nice sensible weather that rarely gets too hot or too cold.

66. I did say 'warm'
not hot.:-)

Up to 25c is great - just perfect, especially when it cools down at night which it tends to do here.

I've rarely known weather to be 'sensible'. On cue, anyway. ;-)

In a freak accident on March 24, 2001, during the 7th inning of
a spring training game against the San Francisco Giants, Johnson
threw a fastball that struck and killed a dove. After being struck
by the pitch, the bird went over catcher Rod Barajas' head and
landed amid a "sea of feathers." The official call was "no pitch."

57. It is, isn't it?
It's got the whole package — timing, composition, lighting.

And when you think that in 1965, photographers had to set everything themselves...

I think it was taken by an amateur, too, because there were spots and scratches on the negative. I Photoshopped™ out the spots, but you can see some of the scratches on Oliva's shirt.

Cindy Pitcher Miss Hartford 1971

Molly Pitcher

Legendary heroine’s story shows importance of the brave women who fought for America’s freedom

It was June 28, 1778, during the American Revolution, and the Battle of Monmouth was raging in New Jersey. The weather was hot, and the Continental soldiers were suffering from thirst and heat exhaustion.

It was a time for heroes — and heroines. And one of the most famous names from America’s War of Independence was Molly Pitcher.
