The Dungeon Master is the god of the game. You play by rolling a lot of dice, one of which has 20 sides. The higher you role, the higher damage you inflict. A triple 20 kills just about anything. The DM controls the monsters and other fighters the players meet, and the old joke in the game is that if you get the DM mad, he rolls a triple 20 and kills you.
