Anyone else feeling pretty down tonight?
Reading the terrible news coming out the Middle East, reading the crazy nutjob fundies link from the Greatest page, thinking about how most of us spend our lives working for corporations, and for what? I probably should just go hug my daughter and go to sleep, but I thought I'd see how everyone else was feeling tonight, too...

For stupider, more selfish reasons that don't even merit a mention because they're quite trivial in comparison. Then I feel guilty about that and feel worse. :(

9. Sorry you're feeling down.
Yeah, the news sucks lately. I consciously try to take a break from it sometimes cuz I get too hooked by it. The world is definitely out of balance, which is why it's so important to create as much balance in our personal lives as possible.

So go hug that adorable daughter of yours and get some rest, babe. You'll feel better later.

Emotions are like the weather....Everything changes.... :loveya: :hi:

11. Not really.
Which is surprising, since I am doing some heavy-duty pastoring this week - including doing a funeral for a 4-day old infant.

It's all in perspective, I guess. Right now I'm more focused on the needs of my congregation.

Try to focus on some good things that are happening in your community. And if you can, do a small act of kindness for someone... that usually pulls me out of a slump.

12. Don't Let It Bring You Down
Old man lying by the side of the road
With the lorries rolling by
Blue moon sinking from the weight of the load
And the buildings scrape the sky

Cold wind ripping down the alley at dawn
And the morning paper flys
Dead man lying by the side of the road
With the daylight in his eyes

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around

Blind man running through the light of the night
With an answer in his hand
Come on down to the river of sight
And you can really understand

Red lights flashing through the window in the rain
Can you hear the sirens moan?
White cane lying in the gutter in the lane
And you're walking home alone

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around

14. I just broke my kids' hearts, so I'm a bit down.
They had rescued a litter of kittens back in March, and had gotten rid of all but one kitten and the mother. For a while my spouse debated keeping the last kitten, since my daughters had gotten so attached. But the older, 13, wouldn't help clean, and the kitten and mother (who was wild) started leaving piles all over my spouse's house (we're separated). So tonight they went to a no-kill shelter.

My 13 year old cried all day, finally losing it completely tonight as the kitten left. I think she felt guilty, too, since part of the reason for not keeping the cats was that she wouldn't help care for them as much as she should. I should mention that they have three other cats and three dogs at the house, and two cats at my apartment, so we are a pet-heavy family.

My 7 year old was so brave up until the final moment, and she started sobbing. When my wife left with the cats, my daughter told me "This hurts worse than when my finger got slammed in the car door." So I started crying.

So yeah, I'm a bit down, too, even without Bush's chickens coming home to roost.

36. My daughter called me at 1am
Apparently she broke down again after I left, and my wife had to call me to talk to her. My spouse has no ability to comfort her, for some reason. She has some self-defense mechanism that makes her get angry when she can't deal with pain. When she got back from the shelter yesterday evening, my oldest was still crying. Instead of talking to her about it, she started blaming my daughter. "If you'd ever helped clean up, we could have kept him. Look at that pile of clothes you didn't pick up when I told you." My daughter started crying harder, but instead of dropping it, spouse kept on about the clothes, even though daughter wasn't saying anything. I try not to undermine her, but the third time she started yelling I told her she wasn't helping, tried to get her to yell at me instead (there's a reason we're separated). I didn't raise my voice, just stepped in. Luckily, she yelled at me once but seemed spent, and just went in the other room. She usually never lets go. In college, she picked a fight with me at my best friend's father's funeral, because I was spending too much time studying for exams and not enough seeing her.

So at 1am, she had no ability to help my daughter, so I had to talk to her over the phone. I'd rather go to Hell than hear either of my kids hurting like that. I don't know why I'm posting this here!<G> Craving pity, I guess. Pathetic me :). A friend of mine died Monday, too. Great week. Maybe I can fired today to round it out! Sigh. Well, mother always told me there'd be... you know the saying.

Thanks for listening! I'll be here all week. Try to vegetarian veal! :)

39. Amazing just how
incredibly stupid the people of Ohio have been. I'm sure it will
be done to us again.
Bush will be here in Aug. to help Blackwell. I doubt we will ever have a fair election here ever again.
Its very depressing to see our Industry gone. I looked in the
newspaper yesterday not one job over minimum wage in my immediate
area.
Our main source of jobs was Delphi which will be done to 1,300
employee's very soon. It once employed 13,000. Yet WalMart is
building a super store around the corner.
Homes all over my area for sale.
