Hello Martha's Vineyard snobs! Would you be caught dead
in a Black Dog T shirt? Is a Menemsha Blues or a Katama Airfield a lot more "in"?

Just got back from MV on the world's choppiest ferry ride from Oak Bluffs to Quonset RI. Great time in South Beach.

Where do you go on the Vineyard?

1. I'm an MV snob.
Though I've never been there. My 12th Ggrandfather once owned MV & the Elizabeth Islands.
Unfortunately, I wasn't in the will. :banghead:

Glad you had a good time - sorry 'bout the 'chop'.

2. Hey, you should go! It's wonderful!
Get thee to South Beach, close to Edgartown (so beautiful). And visit Aquinnah and Menemsha up-island. Lovely but remote to my taste.

Where are you? I can tell you how to get there if you want?

5. Alas...
I'm in California...a winning lottery ticket away. :}

I actually read their newspaper on the Net every week. Thos. Mayhew of MV (The 12th Gg) lived in Tisbury. Where is that in relation to South Beach?

I really do want to get there once while I'm relatively non-senile.

6. Tisbury is in the center of the island
If you ever take a trip to the East Coast for other reasons you could take a CapeAir flight to MV from Providence's T.F. Green airport. Or you could fly to Providence and take a shuttle to the ferry at Quonset (take Dramamine as you are in the Atlantic Ocean for much of the trip over and it can get rough). The ferry from Woods Hole out on the Cape is calmer but it's just a long drive out there.

The Vineyard is full of history, especially Edgartown. With your family history, I think you would have a great time touring around the historic sites. Edgartown is a jewel with great shopping, food and galleries. Also for celebrity sightings, both political and show biz. I stayed once in a tiny B&B and had fantastic crab cakes Benedict for brunch while I looked out to Chappaquidick (got my Chappy T shirt, quite the in thing).

My youngest daughter lives in Los Angeles and she wouldn't miss going to MV in the summer, except this year when her husband's father and mother died within 5 weeks of each other and prevented her from coming. She was so sad not to make it!

4. I go because my daughter and son in law have a condo there
and I babysit my granddaughters for them when they want to go out. It's a great system!
