HOW MANY "Greatest Hits" albums can one person have?
Billy Joel? What's the matter with you? Can't you just settle for one "Greatest Hits" CD? Why do you insist on a dozen, all with the same songs? WTF is up with that? And I'd really like a formal apology for "Piano Man". La de da de dedah my FANNY. "Making love to his tonic and gin"? I was TWELVE when I first heard that!! What do you think that did to me? They put bread in my jar? Why? Who do you think you are?

:grr: :nuke:

:hi: :bounce:

Remember to sit there in rapt awe at the 'elevator of blood' scene. One of the best images in cinematic history, IMO.

2. blame the labels
They need a greatest hits package at every price point. And then they need to convince you to buy it again with slightly different packaging.

I get solicited on a new Greatest Hits series every day of the week. :argh:

(but seriously, i'm ok with blaming Billy Joel too. like i was waiting for him to give me approval about how much he likes me "just the way I am? :grr:)

5. OK, this is funny, but you'll have to listen-
One of my best friends from the UP sang that to her beer.

If you'll wait a second I'll go get the lyrics. Hold on-

13. Here you go:
"Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care

I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.

I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are."

Sing it to your beer next time! LOL

4. Hey, I love "Piano Man."
Addictive swill, sure, but that's the point: ADDICTIVE.

I have his album 52nd STREET; it's actually quite good.

The Best of Bread! :puke: (It probably wasn't in Billy Joel's jar, though...) She had nothing BUT Greatest Hits albums....like Sonny and Cher, The Carpenters, Olivia Newton-John, etc. Where was she when they were putting out actual albums???? Huh????

16. I'm sure it's at the top of his list...

Well apparently there's No End in Sight...at the March 30th Wachovia Center Concert in Philly...I was the oldest person in the first ten rows, thus the trials and tribulations of Brenda & Eddie live on.

You would've loathed "Movin' Out"...ouch! won 5 Tonys

I also swear that some of the others shouldn't get the hero-worship they get.

20. Absolutely......some fans are on Auto-pilot
But...when you've literally grown old with an entertainer ( Saw Billy open for the Doobie Brothers in Philly, in 1973) there's more of an emotional attachment to his music...sort of the "soundtrack of your OWN life"

21. even ONE greatest hits CD is too many
for many artists (see the Eagles and Steely Dan).

As Fred Durst might say, I'm in total agreeance with you, Sugar. :D

I like it best when you see greatest hits albums for artists who (a) haven't had many singles, and (b) stink.

Like "Victoria Beckham Greatest Hits" :wtf:
