Good Monday Morning, Crew!

Welcome to the Monday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I hope you had a great weekend where you had a chance to relax and have some fun! I sure did (even though I had to work on Saturday)! :woohoo:

I went, when I got off on Saturday afternoon, and bought the digital camera I've been wanting! It's an incredible little thing, let me just tell you! :woohoo: I've spent the past two days learning what it can do and I still don't know it all yet. I think that's part of the fun though. Being surprised when you learn something new it is capable of! :bounce: I have a few pictures to show you, the very first ones I took with it, so look for those in the thread andlet me know what you think!

Greekspeaks family is here with us for the next few days! His dad, step mom and step sister, so I have a houseful right now. It's good to see them and we enjoy having the company!

My 9 day vacation is only 6 days away! :bounce::woohoo: But first, I have to get through a Regional Director visit at my store tomorrow. She's newly appointed to the position and I hear a tiger about things, so I'm a little nervous about her coming. Not that we aren't ready, or the store doesn't look good, but I understand she finds faults no matter how good things are. :scared: I'll let you know how the visit goes on Wednesday.

So...here we are at Monday. The start of a new week! Are you ready? I am! So let's get it on! :bounce:

24. It was good.
I spent some time packing for my move. I'm going to mail some of my stuff to my friend in New York so that we won't have to load my car up too much when he comes down here to help me.

I also got my iPod battery replaced. Before, it ran for one hour -- now it runs for nine! That'll definitely help on my road trip from Los Angeles to Texas.

:D

Getting things done you wouldn't normally have time for is a good thing, that's for sure! And yes, you'll need as much time from your iPod as you can get on THAT trip!

35. 22-hour trip.
But this time, we'll make a stop in New Mexico, so I can recharge the iPod overnight. That still leaves 4 hours where we can't listen to it, but we'll figure something out. I'm thinking I'll put about 50-60 albums on there, which should be enough to tide us over.

Also, the New Mexico stop should be informative since it's the setting for my next screenplay. :D

10. Yep, not so bad
Didn't sleep very well last night because it was just too damn warm. Stayed at 75 degrees all night! I know that doesn't sound much to someone who lives in Florida, but British homes almost never have A/C (because it's hardly ever required).

I'd have to have AC installed if I lived there. Whether it's needed all the time or not. Florida has conditioned me that way.

63. Oh, I never thought about that
The warm air has to be expelled. That means the air conditioner has to stick through the window or wall.

I spent 2500UKP last summer on double-glazing. No way am I putting holes in that now! I will just have to stay warm at night.

64. Try not to take pics agains the sun
The third pic looks like you did. Focus on the building you want to take a pic of and try to get not too much of the surrounding area in it.

Actually I am not good at giving advice as I have to admit that I take my pics with a sense of instinct. I kinda see if the pic will come out good or if I rather look for another angle. Hard to explain.

6. Good morning Clint!
My weekend was loads of fun! Besides working three 12hr shifts I cleaned the oven, then pulled it out and my roomie and I cleaned the floor under it, and re-affixed the vinyl where it had come unglued from the subflooring. I also cleaned my bathroom.

I know how it is with the RD visits. We have the same thing when we have visits from the state. They absolutely refuse to leave without citing us for something--it's like an unwritten rule. They'll go into the furnace room and get down on their hands and knees to find a dust bunny if they have to in order to have something to scribble on their report if it takes that much.

"In Your Wildest Dreams". Another "golden oldie" from my high school years. It's scary that songs from my high school years are "oldies".

I haven't met the woman yet, and it's entirely possible the things I've heard are just to scare us, so I'm trying to not pre-judge her. I'll just have to see how it goes in the morning.

I was thinking the same thing the other day about the music from my high school days. The 80's in other words. I hate that they are called "oldies". :grr:

I just celebrated the 20th anniversary of my high-school graduation this past Tuesday (you know, Satan's day, 6/6/06 ). I still can't get over the fact that it was that long ago. I don't feel that old. So often I feel like I'm a teenager playacting as an adult. Too bad I'm not actually a teenager playacting as an adult .

Is it already noon? Wow, that morning sure went by fast. Guess I was busy with different things .... LOL

I had a blast Saturday night. I went to a 80s party with my friend. We were home 6am. Some guys even talked to us :wow: and we got a lot of glances. We drank quite a bit but no hangover.
Yesterday I pretty much slept all day and watched soccer and tennis. Too bad Roger Federer didn't win the French Open

I'm heading out of here, so wishing you a great day!

OK, something's must be up with your computer. I had trouble with iTunes when I had an external sound card plugged in. Took it out and iTunes installed and worked fine. Whatever it is, I hope you get things going. The software is really fun.

You would like the way things are shaping up. I hate a mess, too. My kids tease me that their "clean" is my "dirty" b/c I'm so fussy about it.

We have three cats on the bed now. Guess they think it's home. :loveya:

This time, I'm getting error messages during the install. So that's just something I'll have to work out with their technical support. I just hope they are better than Roxio.

I'm sure I WOULD like the way things are shaping up! Hopefully, you'll be happy there for the short time you're going to BE there.:loveya:

Most of the time, I end up fixing things on my computer by trial and error ... or someone harleydad works with happened to have the same problem and figured it out. If you don't get any help (yeah, hopefully they're better than Roxio!), send me the error messages and I'll have harleydad ask his friends.

Yes, we WILL be happy here. I love the yard and the view from the patio (mountains and horses). The neighbors are great and the house is going to be fine. It's really a lot of house for the money.

The kitties LOVE that there's a downstairs. This is the first time they've even seen stairs and they take great delight in going down to the den and playing hide and seek. :loveya: We haven't seen that old tomcat around for a few days now -- maybe someone trapped him.

Sometimes the only thing that helps is someone else who's had the same problem. I REALLY hope tech support helps out!

Stairs give the kitties a whole new level of running around possibilities. And they seem to know that it's easier to get "lost" if they go up and down the stairs. Our kitties have been ravenously hungry since we got here, too. We used to go through 1 pound of rabbit per day and now we're up to 1 1/2 pounds! :scared: And they're not even puking it up or anything. They eat all in one session, too, the way a dog does. Everyone but Sashka used to take a few bites, go away, come back and take a few more bites, and so forth, making it last about 30 minutes or so. Now they all chow down as soon as I put the food down. The last one eating has to tolerate the other three standing there staring at her dish saying, "you gonna eat that?"

Sashka has a weight problem, too. She seems to be very satisfied with the rabbit and is a nice size. They say the thin ones fill out and the fat ones trim down on it. The thin ones sure did fill out! Even harleykid thought Satchmo had actually grown (at the age of 8!). She hadn't seem him since last June, when he was really sick.

SLOWLY is the operative word here. I had my last house settled in two days. It's a little harder when only some of it is getting unpacked.

Nope, no time at all. We did take one evening off to go to the property -- but that's not as close as it looked and it took about 30 minutes to get there. It's gorgeous, though! Honeysuckle, blackberries, and black raspberries are growing everywhere! I was going to plant berries, so that's good news. I've been sending harleydad on all the errands and we did find a great pizza place -- best pizza I've EVER had and all the toppings are free! I'm going to start looking "corn-fed" if I keep it up.

Harleykid wants to take us to the lake one of these evenings, after we get to a little better stopping place.

....hope you all had a restful but also fun weekend.

I'll be spending today and tomorrow getting ready for my new computer tower than youngest son is sending. It should be here late tomorrow afternoon. So I have to clean off a very messy desk and figure out where I want everything.

Hey, we've warmed back up to the 70's now and should be right on target with the 80's by the end of the week.:bounce: Those two days with daytime highs in the 50's and overnight lows near freezing really messed up some flowers around here. Oh but if it's not one extreme it's another around here. By this coming weekend we are supposed to be back up around 90 degrees with humidity levels near 90 and due points around 70, so it's going to be hot and sticky.:puke: Whatever happened to nice warm - low humidity - weather? I'll just do all my running around the beginning of this week.:bounce:

We picked up our cat a week early. She's 3 - some kind blue point/white ragdoll/Himalan mix. She's really a beautiful little thing. She had to leave her kittens (they were old enough), she was just spade and caught a cold at the vet's. So, it'll take some time to get her settled. She talks 24/7. Love your pics!

Whew! I'm going to have to start getting up earlier on Monday's! Your morning thread seems to keep growing and growing. You're a great host!

Love, love, love your photos. And those were the first ones? Wow! Sounds like you really like your camera. What software's not installing? I've got a card reader for the digi I have at work. It's great, just put the card in it, plug it into my computer and I can directly download the photos. Couldn't be easier. And that way if someone else wants to use the camera and download photos, they don't have to come to me all the time to do it.

Yes, the thread gets big! But, it's a lot of fun and I'm happy everybody enjoys it as much as I do! Thank you for the nice words, my dear.

My camera came with software that's made to take the photos off the camera and edit them. It's THAT software that doesn't work. My computer has the card readers on it too, so I don't need the software for that...but I would like to use the editing stuff.

Gotta head out, it's going to be a busy week at work. Oh btw, good luck on the store review. I know those can be a little intimidating, but it sounds like you've got things more than under control, so realistically, you've got nothing to worry about. And you've been through these before with flying colors.

It's good to see you, too.

:hi:

I have NO clothes to wear to work today. So, I need to get going. I think you're right...I think we had two or three storms this time last year. Hopefully, that means we won't have the crazy season they are predicting. I'll see you in the mornign, my dear! I've GOT to get going!

124. Hi Billyskank!
I am sorry you didn't sleep well. I know that there are air conditioning units that stand alone and don't need to be ventilated, here in the states. Maybe there is something like that available there?

I just found out that we are having lunch brought in today so I get to pick whatever I'd like to eat instead of the peanut butter and jam sandwich I brought. :9 :bounce: Wow, that just made my day!

I hope you have a great day today!

It's a busy day for me. I've got to drop my truck off tonight so the hydraulic tailgate can be serviced. Before that I've an appointment with my dermatologist.

I'm new here and don't know everyone yet. I know there is no
"welcome" forum and I am pretty new at this. But I
just want to say hello to everyone on DU.

140. Morning Clint,
I am just about to sit down and write a column for OpEdNews. I'm feeling like thinking about some foreign policy this morning. Completely nerdishness I know. :)

Oh I bet just the thought of that vacation is sweet. Last month my last week of finals, just knowing I would be off for most of the summer, I was just ecstatic! :)

Hell, don't be nervous about the regional manager, you could charm a snake!

I love having family around. I'm from an Indian reservation. We're a very familial society, our friends are more like brothers and sisters, our friend's parents, Aunts and Uncles, they are just like extended mothers and fathers. Everybody stays with everybody. I was raised with a houseful of people all the time. I love it.

The Moody Blues! I love that song. Good memories from the summer when I was about ten or 11 or so. I'm going to listen to it right now. :)
