Burying a neighbor and good friend in four hours.....
Allen died on Sunday of complications from lung cancer that he was diagnosed with last Feb. He turned 47 just a couple of months ago. He probably smoked for about 30 of his 47 years. The cancer racked his body so badly that he weighed less than 117 lbs when he died. I have a 15 year old daughter that weighs more than that.

Smoking killed my mom by the time she was in here early 60's,she smoked for well over 40 years. Luckily my dad quit about 16 years ago and celebrated his 80th birthday on Nov.27th.

I've never smoked one cigarette in my 50 years,my parents with their chain smoking habit made sure I'd never take up the habit. Please,if you can try to quit tomorrow,I won't pretend to know how tough it is since I've never had to try. Do it for yourself and for the people that will be standing over your coffin as I'll be doing at 3:00 pm today.

David

2. I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry for your losses, David.

I'm lucky. I've never lit up. My partner smoked for 20 years, quit 12 years ago.

I quit smoking 15 years ago. My best friend quit last month and I am so glad she did.

4. Such a shame,
and so unnecessary. I get so tired of people who smoke denying the very real dangers of smoking, and assuming they won't get ill, they won't get cancer or heart disease, and then all too often wanting sympathy when they do.
