5. I had to look "tragus" up.
:dunce:

I wouldn't mind getting that piercing, I just didn't know that's what it was called!

I hope it stops hurting soon!

:hi:

isn't it bit like those ladies who still had beehives in 1985?

11. i had those once....
they take forever to heal (cartilage) and earplugs/phones are a bitch to use with them. one of the balls fell off one of my barbells so i yanked both of them out. they look cool though.

18. They do hurt:
My boyfriend had three 14-gauge cartilage piercings in his ear. He had the middle one taken out and stretched, so that part of the other two rings went through the middle hole at the same time. It's hard to imagine, but it looked really neat; sort of like this:
(
.
(

(the "(" standing for each ring, the "." being the middle hole) Everytime I even BARELY touched his ear he would scream. I told him not to get stupid piercings. It's really hard to avoid hurting someone when they have piercings that are so sensitive, such as the cartilage.

17. No no, imagine the pain of...
... A crucifiction piercing. 4 barbells: one through each hand, one through each foot. It's surgically pierced with fiberwire. I've never seen anyone who has it, but I mean... whew. That's ridiculous.

13. Cool :)
I want to get an industrial but I'm too afraid of how long it would take to heal, as my other cartilage piercing took about 18 months.

Hope the pain eases up a bit soon!

19. My industrial took about 9 months.
It would have been easier but I was an idiot and using Bactine on it at the time. I have quite a bit of piercings. The best thing to heal them with is sea salt. Just mix a spoonful of non-iodinized sea salt into some warm water and let it soak for a few minutes then rinse it off. It draws everything out. Sea salt is amazing. Never use bactine, neosporin, peroxide, betadine, claire's ear solution, etc. Also, if it took 18 months to heal, you may have a metal allergy. Try using titanium.

And never get anything pierced with a gun EVER!!!!!

21. Yeah, I find it amazing when I hear...
of people getting their noses or navels pierced with a gun and wondering why they have a problem. The only issues I have ever had with piercings were with gunned piercings before I knew better. With the exception of the helix in my right ear, everything I currently have was done by a needle with no issue. The helix was done by a gun with multiple issues.

I'm also good friends with my piercing/tattoo artists so I learn a lot just by hanging out at the studio. It's good for discounts too.

23. A friend of mine is a walking anti-piercing gun advertisement.
You bring up piercings at all and one of the first things out of her mouth is something relating to piercing guns being evil (then she usually comes on MSN five minutes later to complain to me about her stupid friends getting their noses pierced with a gun despite her incessant warnings, haha). Which is kind of frustrating, that people are willing to go for the gun piercing despite the risks just to save a few dollars. There definitely needs to be more regulation on such things, I think. (A really great local shop in the city where I go to school has actually been working with the province to help develop standards for regulation, which I think is great.)

On another note: I think I actually scared another friend of mine off from getting a piercing last week when I explained to her the problems with piercing guns and that professional piercers use a needle (even though I also explained that the needle is much safer and less painful, since it's sharper and thus make the incision more easily). Haha, she'll thank me though.

22. Anything from Claire's should be avoided like it's plagued
About five years ago I bought earrings there that the sales woman swore wouldn't set off my allergies but I still wound up with swollen, itchy, reddish/green ears. I tried to return them a few days later and they refused to let me until I stared warning all of the customers what their earrings did and that the didn't even want to give me my money back.

24. My first lobe piercings were done there.
I took care of them. They still got fucked up and I took them out. I later got my lobes pierced with a needle. Before I started stretching them, I borrowed a pair of Claire's earrings from my sister. My ears (totally healed/no problems) freaked out on me. I took them out and put in better jewerly and they went back to being happy. I'm not even overly sensitive. I use acrylic plugs in my ears. I've used acrylic in freshly stretched lobes. That's generally a no-no, but my ears are fine with it. So basically, if I can do that and I can't handle their earrings, it really proves they're crap.

After looking it up, I still have no opinion or comment other than saying: "OK."

27. I used to have my nipples pierced
I fell in love, got rid of 'em and got married.

Any advice on how to convince my wife that they're pretty cool?

P.S. Congrats on the new ones!
