Ah, Christmas in San Antonio... the leaves are turning

http://news.mysanantonio.com/story.cfm?xla=saen&xlc=1094623

The article is from a few days ago, but it is still accurate. Just over two weeks before Christmas and it looks like fall here!

My favorite quote from the article:

"For me it's kind of strange to see Christmas decorations mixed with autumn leaves," said Joan Baker-Hernandez, who moved to San Antonio from Vermont a few months ago and now lives on the North Side in the Thousand Oaks area.

"The seasons here are just not normal, and the weather just keeps changing back and forth from fall to summer to winter," she said. "It's just weird."

1. DH and I spent a couple of winters north of San Antonio
in Boerne. You have such nice holiday traditions there.

2. Hey, I lived in Boerne a few years back
Just for a year and a half.

The place is growing like crazy, though, so it's becoming scarcely recognizable, even just 4 years later.

3. We were there last six years ago.
It was starting to grow then. It was your bodacious thunderstorms accompanied at times with tornadoes that finally sent us back to California as a winter location. I know we have our own devils here but at least they are the devils we know. :-)

4. Bodacious thunderstorms
Those are part of the reason we moved here!

:-)

Of course, after my car got absolutely pounded by 4-inch hailstones a couple springs back, I started to have some second thoughts.

:wow:

5. Really like San Antonio
We have visited there several times and stayed on the Riverwalk. Once, the first week in December after all the Christmas lights had been put up along the Riverwalk....really pretty. Great city to spend some time in.

I live in OKC and our city built a canal(along with 600 million in other public improvements downtown and nearly 400 million in private investments) in a warehouse district about 7 years ago. Presently it doesn't come close to the Riverwalk, however, in time it will also become a destination spot.
