1. I chose Fantasy but I sure do love their music.
LOVE IT! I grew up listening to EWF and they are as amazing to me today.

3. Great thread!
Edited on Mon May-15-06 12:26 PM by redqueen
I answered other and was gonna say Serpentine Fire... but Fantasy is really good too... really really good.

But on third thought... I can't pick a favorite!

Because - Reasons... Mighty Mighty... After the Love has Gone... I could go on and on and on!

5. I had a pleasant surprise back in 1974
I was going to see the headline act: Uriah Heep, but the opening act was Earth, Wind, and Fire. They totally stole the show!

6. Gratitude was da bomb. Saw them in late 70's at MSG. Doug Henning
did their stage design. They appeared an disappeared magically. It was funny. What's there not to like about EWF. Glad they are getting love again. You don't see fifteen piece bands too much these days. I heard Maurice White had MS. Hope he's still kicking. I know some of the band produced a lot after they stopped playing.

15. They're still playing. A new record is either out already or coming out
shortly. They've been promoting it pretty heavily, especially on VH1 Classic. Philip Bailey is now the frontman; Verdine represents the Whites. I hadn't heard that Maurice had MS. Though I'm sad to hear this, it's at least good to get an explanation for his absence. (During their appearances they refer to Maurice in the present tense as best as I can remember; pretty sure he's still living. Hopefully still writing, too.

Their site: http://www.earthwindandfire.com/

More here: http://www.soulwalking.co.uk/Earth,%20Wind%20&%20Fire.html
Apparently it's Parkinson's from which Maurice suffers. Per the site, he is recovering.

7. It's really hard to pick a favorite...
But I finally went with Reasons...one of my favorite songs, period.

Heh...I made the mistake of letting one of my kids take my EWF CD to listen to -- a year and a half ago.

I haven't seen it since.

One of the best songs ever!

11. You're Correct...
... but if the poll options are TOO complete, then the thread gets fewer replies and it quickly sinks. People will just vote quietly, then go away. On the other hand... by my leaving off such an obvious choice (among others) people will choose the "other" option and then add a post for the "missing" song.

10. Can I just tell you what a pain it is to play EWF songs...
...in a band with no horn section? :) No plans on getting one either, which is okay by me, but still...lots of little changes and stuff that's simply not designed for a keyboard player to easily cover.

12. Had to vote "Let's Groove" - only EWF track I could scrounge from my band!
http://soulercoaster.com/music/mp3/demo/Lets_Groove.mp3

Otherwise, probably would have voted "September" or "Shining Star" (I do have a Shining Star snippet, but it was not a good night).

13. Here's my poll from late '03; let's see if "Fantasy" wins it again!
Though I voted "September" this time, both because I like it and to preclude it being shut out.

16. There's no "That's the Way of the World" up there?????
:wtf:

That said, I also love "Reasons," "September," "Got to Get You Into My Life," "Fantasy," and "After the Love Has Gone," for starters.

;)

21. love em love em love em!!
since i was a young girl!!! i also enjoyed that movie about the drummer in high school..(forget the name of it) because IIRC the band teacher felt the kids should do EWandF if they wanted to 'sound better' than the competition.

i have them on my hard drive for those nights that i just GOTTA have em! generally with a glass of wine or three, or a few beers...:D
