3. It could be...
...that your email provider's server is temporarily down. What error messages are you getting. If you tell me what email program you use, I'll try to offer some suggestions.

4. outlook express,
i talked with my server yesterday,he ran me through some steps and determined that my problem was not a disconnectd server, but in the norton anti virus program, have you ever tryed to get in touch with them?forget aboit it.i think the server tech is wrong,i think it is in the server connection, thats what the error message keeps telling me.i was going to delete all my cookies but i1m afraid that would mess up my computer.i just learned how to use this thing recently, when i went through school they didn`t even have typewriters.thanks.

5. Norton Antivirus...
...has been known to cause problems because of its email scanner function. I agree that trying to get support from them is an exercise in futility. There are sometimes useful hints on the symantec.com support forums. Other people who have problems post there and, in the days when I used to use Norton, I found quite a few answers there.

One thing to try may be to quit Outlook Express, open the Norton Antivirus application and turn off email checking (there should be a checkbox that lets you do this). Then restart Outlook and try to send an email to yourself. If it works, you know that Norton is the problem. That will leave you exposed to email viruses until you fix the problem, but at least you'll know what's wrong. The next step I'd suggest is to go to the Symantec forums, go to the Norton Antivirus ones, and look for other people having similar problems. It's laborious, I know, but probably the only way to do it.

If turning off Norton doesn't fix the problem, let me know and I'll try to think of something else.

6. I agree, Norton is worthless!! Download the free AVG anti virus
protection and run a full system scan.
