Breaking: The Priory of Scion is a HOAX!
According to 60 minutes.
But, of course, that's what "they" WANT you to think.

1. I don't think it is any accident
that this report came out so close to the release of "The DaVinci Code". Too bad Dan Brown didn't agree to come on the show to defend his point of view.

Could you elaborate.

20. Dan Brown's novel Da Vinci Code he claims is based on historical fact.
One of those "facts" is the existence of the Priory of Sion and documents noting its involvement in supposedly maintaining the secret of Christ's and the Merovingians' bloodlines into the present day. The documents and the story they contained were a hoax that was exposed about twenty years before Brown wrote his novel.

No doubt the reason the story is being covered is the upcoming release of the film The Da Vinci Code and the popularity of Brown's novel.

7. Jesus Christ ! and that's news ??? being debunked long ago

The Pelat Affair
In September 1993, Plantard approached of his own volition an investigative judge and claimed to him that the man he was investigating, Roger-Patrice Pelat, had once been grandmaster of the Priory of Sion. Indeed, his name had been on Plantard's list of grandmasters since 1989. In fact, Pelat had died in 1989, while he was being indicted for insider trading and, following a long established pattern, Plantard 'recruited' him soon after his death as the most recent Priory of Sion grandmasters.

But Plantard had failed to realise the severity of interfering with the law; he had made his most important mistake and it led to his eventual isolation. Pelat had been a friend of François Mitterrand, then President of France, and at the centre of a scandal involving French Prime Minister Pierre Bérégovoy. The investigative judge, Thierry Jean-Pierre, could not dismiss any information pertaining to his case that was brought to his attention, but since he never considered it worthwhile meeting Plantard, he ordered the search of Plantard's home.

This turned up what has been described as a fantasy-land of harmless, forged documents, including some proclaiming Plantard the true king of France. Under oath, Plantard had to admit that he had fabricated everything, including Pelat's involvement with the Priory of Sion.<1> Plantard was ordered to cease and desist all activities related to the promotion of the Priory of Sion and lived in obscurity until his death on 3 February 2000, in Paris.

8. Another Euro Fantasy?
Like unicorns and Camelot, the Formor and Faerie Folk?

Or, is it a deeper myth, like the world being created in 7 days, 6,000 years ago?

Wait til I tell Merlin about all this.

9. Faerie Folk do not care for being relegated to the land of fantasy
If you have children you can expect them to be stolen in the middle of the night very soon. And your garden, if you have one, will surely wilt and die off, as they will no longer care for it as they had been. :P

27. True, however...
Dan Brown clearly states (before the novel actually starts) that the Priory of Sion is a real organization, which started in 1099. Both assertions are false.

28. Of course, what Ed Bradley failed to point out is that
whether or not the Priory of Sion is an hoax has NO bearing whatsoever on the "Jesus and Mary Magdalen married, had kids and lived happily ever after" part of the story...

Although I question the sanity of any of Christ's putative descendants on the whole living in France part... :P

29. Maria-Magdelene is supposed to have come to France
and there is a Church at the Saintes Maries in Camargue in France. She is the holy icon of the Gypsies and the pilgrimage (soon to be in May) attracts 10 thousands of them, besides tourists. The Statue is very year brought to the beach and the bearers wade out then turns back towards land, thus symbolizing her arrival.

the whole story is here :

Veneration of Mary Magdalene

30. It does.
The Priory documents were the evidence that led Baigent, Lincoln and Leigh to develop their theories about the dynastic legacy of Christ. The documents being fake has a whole lot of bearing.
