Anyone here watch Showtime's "Masters of Horror"?
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 01:49 AM by primate1
I've seen a few episodes of it, and it's fairly hit and miss (of the seven episodes I've watched, I've really dug three of them), but I just finished watching Joe Dante's episode, "Homecoming" and had to post about it here. It's more a political satire than horror movie, kinda like Canadian Bacon meets Shaun of the Dead. Not really scary, actually pretty funny for the most part, but definitely something a lot of you folks would enjoy.

The basic premise: Dead soldiers from the Iraq war come back from the dead after the president says in a speech that he wishes each and every soldier could be brought back.

Here's a review (which contains spoilers) if you want to know more about it.

If you use bittorrent, PM me and I'll send you a link to download it.

I've heard really good things about Homecoming. IIRC there's a DUer whose husband worked on it.

As to Masters of Horror, I've got to wait for Anchor Bay to release it on DVD and wait for it to hit the sales. I really, really want to see the Takashi Miike one which Showtime never aired because apparently it was too graphic, although I have my doubts that it wasn't a DVD hook. I'm also keen to see the Lucky McKee one because I'm a huge fan of May and I can't wait another year to see Woods.

(btw -- awesome zombie comedy -- Plaga Zombie: Mutant Zone. The DVD is brilliant as you also get the original ultra-ultra low budget film, 30 minuts of deleted material, a decent making of and commentaries for next to nothing -- I paid £6, including postage, to import it.)

5. I actually have the Miike episode downloading now...
It aired on (I think) Bravo over in the UK and someone ripped it.

9. The Coulter spoof was hilarious.
I loved when she and the Falwell spoof were on the talk show two weeks in a row, completely changing their tone when they found out the zombies didn't support the war.
