Listen, you're so right about everyone being beautiful because they're confident. They know they're living in the most beautiful city on the planet, and so they have nothing to prove to anybody. That's one reason why public displays of affection are so common there. And I took a picture of a dog in a restaurant, too! The waiter had served it a dish of food with a flourish. It was so cute!
I believe my dad in I were in Cafe Deux Magots when that happened. Anyway, if you haven't tried them yet, You've GOT to try escargot. I ate escargot with my brother and his friend Mikel, and I did it on a dare after two glasses of white wine. I watched Mikel try one and when I tried them they were DELICIOUS.
There's a really small and festive street on the Left Bank that's always crowded with playful restauranteurs. They shout and smile at you, and if you're an American, they go,"Aaah!" and speak English with you. I hate it when people say Parisians are snobs. I only ran into two unpleasant people there, and I was in summer school there a month and a half.
Try to make it to Shakespeare & Company, if you can. It's a great used bookstore. There's some history behind it. Back in WWII when the Germans occupied Paris, a Nazi came up to the owner and wanted her to save a book for him and some other Nazis. She was scared out of her mind but determined; the next day, she'd found hiding places for EVERY book in the store and it appeared to be empty- of books and people, when they returned.
Also, you'll love the Muse D'Orsay if you go. I spent six hours there. What am I doing? Get off the computer right now!! Hop to, you lucky thing! :D
