He is certifiable.

The graduates wanted Jimmy Carter, who agreed to come. The school demanded a handsome donation from Carter (this was Illinois Wesleyan University, a school to which JC had absolutely NO connection).

Jimmy refused. So the school got RumDum, whose daughter attended there. Presumably, he donated an acceptable amount. The grads were pissed. This was 1993....

The occasion was lightened by my then 13-year-old nephew who spent the entire ceremony patrolling under the bleachers retrieving purses and whatever dropped by attendees....and hoping for rewards. Which he did receive enough of to make it worth his while.
