Poll question: Am I man enough
Edited on Thu Mar-30-06 09:29 PM by eyepaddle
to hit the Kettle river this weekend?

I've run it at comparable levels, but at the end of the season, after effectively, months of practice. That was in October, so it was chilly then as well--it's chillier now, but I have improved my "gear-status" with a snazzy new drysuit, which has tested well so far. So should I sack up and go for it, or weasel out and stay closre to home?

Here's info on the river:
http://www.americanwhitewater.org/rivers/id/951/

and here's what the water level is doing, (the second graph is the one I pay attention to, it is currently at 2300 cubic feet per secon headin UP. I've hit it at 3200, which it could well be by Saturday. Anything over that and there is NOOOOOO way I'm going. If it stays around 2500 I've got no worries, and will hit it without a qualm. I'm on the fence here folks.

DISCLAIMER: I AM FAIRLY CONSERVATIVE ABOUT MY OWN LIMITS AND SKILLS, AND IF I AIN'T FEELING IT, I AIN'T GOIN' (So you don't need to worry about peer-pressuring me into getting in over my head. This is just a fun little poll to see what my friends on DU would think when faced with a similar decision. :hi:

1. October wasn't that long ago - you can't be that out of practice
Just go for it - pain doesn't last, and chicks dig scars... :)

2. Absolutely!
Especially since you are man enough to admit when a challenge may cross the line between fun and foolishness. I admire that - a lot.

Just don't break anything you might need later, ok, darlin'?
