Is this a mistake?
I bought a year's worth of meat from a man in a pickup truck.

He threw in the used freezer and set it up in the dining room.

I am now ambivalent.

4. Did you ever see the Alfred Hitchcock episode
about the woman who was abused by her husband until she could take it no more?

She whacked him over the head with a frozen leg of lamb; then she roasted the murder weapon...

18. Great episode.
It's one of the first ones I think of whenever someone brings up Alfred Hitchcock.

5. I'm afraid this is true.
The guy knocked on the door about 6 p.m.

He took out some samples.

Looked good, but damn, I have a meat morgue now.

8. Now I want to look up that episode.
After two days it seems good.

The disturbing part is that all the meat is there already . . . waiting.

9. and where did that meat come from?
Is it disease free? or from otherwise healthy cows?

I'm just asking. . .

I never even (have to) open the door to those guys. (Though few are brave enough to even get on the porch - as between the "OMG STRANGE MAN ON MY PORCH" and "OMG I SMELL MEAT!!!!!!!!" - my 150lb+ dog is usually slobbering all over the window and barking loud enough to wake the dead and slamming himself against the door acting like he'd he's going to come THROUGH the door and eat all the meat he smells (including the man)!!

IF they make it to the porch I usually just shake my head, point to the dog, and they very quickly and happily leave the premises.

How much did you pay.

What kind of cuts did you get and how much?

Is it choice? prime?

If you got 100 lbs of ribeye and strips, and a freezer for a couple hundred bucks, then yes, it was a good deal.

20. Update. Looks like the meat is stolen.
I was talking to a guy in the restaurant business who buys meat by the truckload.

He said these guys come around all the time.

And . . . he buys from them all the time.

The way it works is they get a truckload somewhere, bring it to a large butcher, a true chop shop. Each large cut has a USDA stamp and number on it so it can be traced. When it's cut up and packed, it's untraceable.

The meat is individual portions, vacuum packed, all kinds of cuts from filet to hamburger. Plus chicken and fish.

So far no food poisoning. We paid $2500 for the lot. About a year's worth. Family of six.

The restaurant guy said it was a real good buy, a real steal.

I feel like a Republican.
