People who make simple things difficult - a short rant
Stopped into my doctor's office today - I'm pretty sure I'm getting a bladder infection. I was going to call after work but I unexpectedly got out early so just drove over.

Asked the lady at the desk if I could just pee in a cup - that's all that's necessary. That way they could check it and give me a call if I need anti-biotics.

She dithered and fussed and finally said exasperatedly, "You really should call ahead!"

So I kept my cool and told her I'd planned on it but suddenly had the time free etc. More dithering, more paper shuffling. "This would have been easier had you called ahead!"

Fuck it. I turned around and left - called over my shoulder, "forget it, I'll call ahead." She tried to call me back in but I was steaming by that time - all she had to do was tell me it wasn't a good time and could we set something up for later but instead she had to make a damn silly production out of it - no people skills whatsoever. There were almost no patients in there - hell, I would have even written my own name on the cup! It's not like I was asking for major surgery.

Frigging petty, self-important people with delusions of authority - it's enough to make you chew off your own foot. :nuke:
