May I ask something serious in the lounge?
What color is your refrigerator, and why? I have a big decision to make, and can't make my mind up.
My current one is...almond. Okay, maybe tan. :eyes:
But it runs all the time, has been moved more times than most people, has an ice/water function that takes up a lot of room, am I wrong to want to get something a bit more energy-efficient?
So, any thoughts?

1. Throw it out as soon as you can!
:grr:

(I am now kicking myself for not putting "tan" on my poll this afternoon! D'oh!)

3. White looks more modern
and it's hard to match tan/almond/bisciut appliances. My 1nd choice would be black, but it doesn't look good in every kitchen.

4. I *wish* mine were almond/tan
It's that puke-yellow/green so popular for about a week during the '70s. So are the sink and the range.

That's why I don't cook much. Makes me suicidal.

7. This topic needs more cowbell
It's 2 sirius.
Can we give out appliance color advice on the internet?
What about liability issues?
I am seeing alot of racist answers too. We are all gonna have to goto re-education camps and watch "Crash" a brazilian times. Oh, the horror, the horror.

My fridge is white, fairly new, and seems like its running all the time too, but my electric bills are not that high, so it must be my imagination. As a single guy I have tons of room, and just load it up with jugs of water and bottles of ice, so it is not all empty space.

10. Mine's white.
There are two main reasons for that too. One is that white was just easier for me to say when they asked what color. The other addresses my sloppiness when pouring Dr Pepper. I use the 2 liter bottles of Dr Pepper and a BIG cup. I tend to splash it sometimes. In that case, it's nice to be able to use the Clorox wipes to just wipe the thing down from time to time when it gets all sticky on the side. I am such a slob. I don't think it really matters though. Get what you want. Honestly, I don't think the color of a fridge has anything to do with energy efficiency though. In any case, sure thing, get one that is more energu efficient if possible. I mean it's a good idea. The ones with the ice makers, imho, are no great shakes. I have the Dr Pepper splashing problem, so one with an ice maker built in is not best for me. I need to be able to roll the thing out to wash it down when it gets sticky. I use trays to make ice. No biggie. Hey, as far as getting a new one, I say go for it.

While you are at it, mind buying me a new stove? I think the one that was here when we go here has something major wrong with it. I still can't use the oven part of it at all. The smell is horrendous no matter how many times I clean it. I don't know why it stunk so bad when I tried to use it, but I have yet, to eat any food from it. It stinks too bad and makes the food smell too bad. I need a new stove.

14. Yep, I drink at least one of them a day, if not
2 sometimes. My aunt drinks them too, so they never go flat. When I said I was a Dr Pepper junkie, I meant it. I can't live without it. Now, I've got glowing eyes. It's the caffeine, I think. Or it could just be the sweetness. I love my Dr Pepper.

Thassalotta Durp, girl. I love it too, but these days, four per day is about my max. (I used to drink eight to 10.)

12. Stainless...
looks modern and expensive.

Ice and water gizmos in refrigerators break too often and aren't worth the cost and bother even when they do work. Many times I have had this converstaion with people and we always end up agreeing on the utility of ice trays and jugs of water. Ice trays in packages of four at the dollar store have a lot going for them.

Energy efficiency is expremely important to your wallet and possibly even for saving the planet. NEVER buy an appliance with a low energy rating unless you get it for close to nothing or have free electricity. Preferably free wind power or something.

27. Ours is a very light off almond white, I guess...because it matches
the stove with the black door, which in turn, matches the black dishwasher. It's a Whirlpool. We've had it for 2 years. It's obnoxiously big, but we've got two kids to feed nonstop. Whatever you do, don't buy a Maygag. :hi:

29. We're buying stainless steel
We have a lot of period pieces - an eclectic mix of late victorian and art deco - in our house and were surprised to see the most modern fridge look is also the one that looks least out of place among them.

Go stainless if you can afford it otherwise i'd go with white. White appliance look less dated. I also feel this applies to tile but go crazy with wall color cause that is easy and inexpensive to change.

It came with the house. It's on it's way out. I wouldn't mind a black fridge, if we can find one that fits in the space.

Energy eff. makes a lot of sense.
