It's no fun when them Asians win in the snow

Olympics Olympics Olympics.

So last night I watched the Olympics. The ski jump dudes were out there flipping and flying and landing and then pandering to the judges for their scores. DUDE! I NAILED THAT ONE I AM SO STOKED!!! (fist pump) YAAA DUDE!

Well guess what. The Chinese guy won. Dead silence on the play by play. You could actually hear booing from the stands which was quickly cut by NBC.

Han Xiaopeng won the gold. All the favorites would barely give him a seat while he waited.

Then my TV got locked up taped a horrendous pro-gun (I mean gun worshipping) edition of Penn& Teller's BULLSHIT!! program.

I returned in time to see SASHA (only one name needed) fall down twice but mind you- as the voice said on the TV "Some people skate Romeo and Juliet, Sasha IS Juliet" even Dick Button must have thought that was too much and laid off it letting it pass.

So did anyone WIN this skating contest? Not from what I heard this morning apparently SASHA lost it. How she beat out the Russian I have no idea.

Oh by the way the GOLD MEDAL WINNER for the 2006 Olympics in Torino is Shizuka Arakawa from Japan.

2. WTF indeed
Look I know you are rooting for her but at least try to be professional about it. The silence from the FOUR PERSON broadcast team was at leat 30 seconds long.

4. Who was the older dude commentating the skating?
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 04:01 PM by Shell Beau
He was plain rude sometimes. The only fair judge IMO was Scott Hamilton who was actually sort of rooting for the girl in all black (black skates, tights, and suit) and wasn't American.

6. That would be Dick Button
Two-time Gold medalist from 1948 and 1952.

10. So legendary that I don't know him!! Not that that says much!
He was very critical of a few skaters.

3. Some viewers hoped she'd stab herself with her skate on the podium.
Alas, it was not to be. :nopity:

18. Me, too...
I thought she looked horrible and that the Russian girl was much better, even though she too fell. There was no touching the Japanese skater, IMO. She looked so effortless.

At least in some pictures.

14. Oh flamingyouth
Speak not ill of any of the Gilmore Girls. They have a special place in our household-my wife totally got into that show during her bedrest before having our daughter. My daughter (6 mos. old) stops when the Carol King song comes on.

BTW there is a guy on the US Curling team who looks a lot like "Kirk"

19. Who speaks ill?
I love that show! In fact, I've never missed an episode! Don't you think in some angles, though, she looks a bit like Rory? Forget her crappy personality. :D

That's really cool that your daughter likes the theme song - maybe she has a womb-memory of it. :D

20. From day one
we started watching it on ABC Family at 5 PM. Now we have to wait for the Olympics to be over so we can see any NEW shows that we have missed. See there is no WB in Richmond Va. never has been. The local NBC station shows the main WB show of the night a week late and from 2:30-3:30 AM. We tape them (DVR).

Please don't tell me anything that has happened. I think we were at the Yale newspaper all nighter episode when we left off, but I could be wrong.

Our baby has turned her head or tried to sit up from day one when the title song comes on. Honestly.

21. I don't think you've missed much.
A couple of good episodes, then the Valentine's Day episode, which doesn't move the plot along too much. I was on vacation when that aired, so I just watched it a few days ago. And now it's in rerun for a while, I think.

Next season you might be in luck with the new CW network. Hopefully Richmond will have one of those, and I know that Gilmore Girls will be carried on it. :)

13. Oh, is figure skating still an Olympic sport?
I thought they were going to finally get rid of those performances. Yes, the announcers detract for the dignity of the games.
