I am about to do a story on the Swift Boating of Cindy Sheehan, especially regarding her presentation last week in Chicago at Saint Xavier's University in the Evergreen Park area.
My story has a deadline of late Thursday Feb 24th. So if you or anyone close to you heard about the event, and especially if you attended, please let me know.
The Student Affairs President at the University, Tina Patterson, put the event together. I heard that there were "dozens of protesters." I also heard that there were two hundred protesters.
Now on just about every MidWest right-wing blog out there, there is a total screamin' memie disinformation campaign. Not only are the remarks about Cindy ugly (use of the B word that rhymes with witch, etc) but the occassional anti-Catholic remark as well.
Saint Xavier's is one of many typical Catholic Universities. Not especially liberal or left leaning. But there is a war on, and the typical student there is going to be affected most by all aspects of that war, especially in terms of the budget. And I imagine a student or two has family or friends in the Service.
I am very curious as to how many supporters of Cindy did show up. And how wide spread the publicity was. Did any of you in Chicago even know about it?
So if you have comments now is the time.
Thanks
