New and unusual Ebay scam email.
I just got a "Question from eBay Member -- Respond Now" email. The question was odd:

Question from kaf14dan
Hello, do you accpet paypal as a payment method, because if not we don't have a deal. Reply asap you get this message. Thank you, Don.

If you have seen my auctions, you would know by reading them that I do accept Paypal. The attitude pissed me off as well. Also, the ID "kaf14dan" is not a bidder on any of my auctions, past or present.

So, I decided to look up the ID on Ebay before responding. Ebay states that the ID is not valid. Huh. I then went to my "my Ebay" page and checked the "hy messages" tab to see if the email came through Ebay servers as any real Ebay email would. It was not there, which means that the email is a fake.

Returning to the email I moused over the links, and the "respond now" link is indeed bogus. It sends you to a domain called "e--respond2.com". I did not click the link, I assume that when you click it you will get a copy of the usual Ebay login page so that you can give the crook your password.

This spoof is real legit looking. Don't fall for it.

1. I had one just like that about a week and a half ago
I'm not actively selling right now, but I fell for it, like a complete idiot. It was the "question from a buyer" scam as well. I immediately changed my password when I logged in and saw that I'd been had.

2. If you want, you can forward the email to
[email protected] and they'll track it down and deal with it.

I get 1-3 bogus spam ebay emails a month, and just forward them on. People are looking to get your info, which you are smart enough to not fall for. So, if you wnat, send that email on to ebay to deal with the spammer.
