GOD, I hate everything (rant).
No, I am not depressed or self-destructive and no I am not thinking of doing anything rash, I just have to vent for one second about my insane roommates, who are totally batshit crazy. AAAAUUUUGGGGHHHH! I won't be able to get out of here for at least another six months, but they are driving me UP. THE. WALL. They're not sane. They're not nice. They're not...anything except unpleasant. So much for being able to trust a background check. I'm never getting roommates again. Screw luxuries, like dental care, I will make the sacrifices, damnit. This isn't worth it.

1. Two realtionships that almost always go sour:
1) Roommates.

2) Business partners. If you ever start a business, do it by yourself, because partnerships have an average lifespan of (based on my observations) about four years. And then it gets ugly.

I've been toying with the idea of a business for a while, (obviously not going to do it for a few years) and I've been ambivalent on the subject of a partner. Good to know my instincts were correct.

2. I had a set of roommates five years ago
We leased a duplex for two years. The first year was fine... they were students and I worked. We didn't see each other often because of our schedules but when we did interface it was always pleasant. I got along great with the cat (my roommate's) I even started feeding it and changing her litter when her momma was away.

So after the first year was up we renewed the lease 'cause things were very pleasant. Three months into the new lease one of my roommates broke up with her boyfriend and she basically went psycho on me. The other roommate pretty much sided with her because they were already acquaintances before we all met.

I actually tried getting out of my lease but the landlord (business is business ya know) wouldn't let me. Not that I blame him.

So I had to put up with nine months of hell on earth.
Turns out that her personality type thrived on having at least one mortal enemy and I fell into role by convenience at the time.

So I've been roommate free for over five years now. It's damn nice not having to anticipate the ebb and flow of someone else's moods.

Life is good now.

Hang in there.

6. I had a lousy roommate
He was an "alcoholic"-I don't think he was really an alcoholic, he was just trying to piss people off. Every time I would get any kind of liquor, he would drink the entire thing in a night. I had to start hiding the bottles in my room.

7. I know the feeling
I actually had a good roommate (once) when I lived on the West Coast. We were in the Navy and his brother stayed with us. He was supposed to look after the place while we were out. To keep a long story VERY short, he didn't. I moved out and got my own place, and have done so ever since.

P.S. Sordid details on request.
