Something about her was familiar

I could swear I'd seen her face before,
But she said, "I'm sure you're mistaken"
And she didn't say anything more.
It took a while, but she looked in the mirror,
And she glanced at the license for my name.
A smile seemed to come to her slowly,
It was a sad smile, just the same.
And she said, "How are you Harry?"
I said, "How are you Sue?
Through the too many miles
and the too little smiles
I still remember you."

There was not much more for us to talk about,
Whatever we had once was gone.
So I turned my cab into the driveway,
Past the gate and the fine trimmed lawns.
And she said we must get together,
But I knew it'd never be arranged.
And she handed me twenty dollars,
For a two fifty fare, she said
"Harry, keep the change."

2. Harry Chapin
One of my favorite poets. He's missed.

3. What a haunting, sad song
Thanks for posting and for the photo. It adds to the melancholy of it.

6. Music is my lifeline
Seldom can I not find a song to either "explain" my feelings or to boost my mood.

8. I can go longer without food than music.
What are you listening to tonight?

4. Time for you to have some responses, my dear Ptah......
This is such a sad, poignant song......

Yet, it is sweet too, in its way.....

I do enjoy reading poems like this, that aren't so obviously explicit...

It is good to have the more innocent stuff now and then, don't you think?

Hearkens me back to a more tranquil, innocent time.....

I'll be sending you a PM in a few minutes.....

7. Hi, neighbor!
Good to see you again.

I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your pics of the marsh.

Spring is close.
