A great loss to the progressive community in Central Indiana, and a giant among DUers and fellow Dean supporters.

Kephra passed away a year ago this past Sunday.

I was so sad that I couldn't make it to the funeral. I would have loved to be there.

I never met him, but we had some awesome conversations.

This must be a terrible time for his mother. I ache for her. Revisiting the anniversary of your child's death must be unbelievably horrible.

But we loved him. And she must be wonderful to have raised such a decent man.

14. I regret that I never told him

That I regarded him as a spiritual brother. I don't often feel that way about people, and I certainly don't know how to articulate it without fear of sounding like a weirdo, but he was one of those people. He had so much more to offer than he ever got back from the world. I had the greatest respect for him, and I miss him.

wax eloquent over him. He sounds like one of the ultimate DUers. That thread you linked to blew me away, that his mother could just put it out there so bluntly. I feel very deeply for this community's loss, and I deeply regret not having known such a man.

I wish Kef were still with us, there is so much to do to get the good people elected or reelected in '06, and then we have to rally around a candidate that represents our values, hopes, and aspirations in '08.
