29. yeah, just kidding.
my sister is in Aroostock(spelling?) county, and she refers to it as "THE COUNTY"

anyway, I always like to visit the area on my way to NB, it's very pretty. The people are nice, but rural.

what is your weather like, right now?

44. Close, but no cigar.
You almost got it--it's "Aroostook." And EVERYONE refers to it as "THE COUNTY." Especially those of us in York and Cumberland counties. :D

Our weather is nice--it was quite warm (40s-50s) on Sunday! We've got a nice layer of snow where I am, though, about 15 mins S of Portland. Maine is beautiful--if frigidly cold--in winter. Ah well. We tough it out. ;)

36. you are 100% correct
the bars are the only "downtown" businesses thriving. The Wal-Mart a few miles from town gets all the action. But the bars ARE located a few feet from the railroad tracks and the grain elevator. And as one of my long-gone college boyfriends used to say when he came to visit, after spying the grain elevator marquee, "beans is winning!"

haven't you heard of the 1,000,000 jobs that will be "created" when ANWR opens up?????????? :sarcasm:

(Labor Secretary Elaine Chao held a press conference 12/12/05 in which she insisted that, according to "congressional estimates," the ANWR project could create one million jobs.)

And how many good folks, including infants, military, and those who make too much money to even think about working on the Slope, actually live here? In 2004, our population was 655,435.

Shows how good at math our Repuke appointees are.......

It has the capitol city of the midwest, Chicago. Abraham Lincoln's home town, nice scenery in the southern and northwestern ends of the state, and more railroad tracks than any other state besides Texas. Plus, Illinois exports great political leaders like Barack Obama, Paul Simon, Dick Durbin and Adlai Stevenson.

I'm a native New Yorker and will always love NY, but Maine is awesome! I love living here and can't see moving anywhere else.

66. Massachusetts. After living there for 2 years, I loved it
but it costs too much to live there.

Second choice would be Conn, because my sister lives there

Third choice would be Wyoming..it is just spectacularly gorgeous.

68.  Michigan----I read somewhere that if
every state were separated and forced to survive on it's own, Michigan would be the only state that would survive. Michigan has enough water, farm and cattle land, minerals, oil, and natural gas to support it's population. I love it here!

What a great state. The capital state of New England it is, from the bustling streets of Boston to the quiet mountains of Lennox.
